Strike Week at Dartmouth resulted, by vote of the players, in cancellation of the varsity lacrosse and freshman baseball games with Holy Cross, the freshman heavy crew's participation in the Eastern Sprints, and the final five games on the freshman lacrosse schedule.
In other moves by Big Green athletes, the varsity baseball team voted to have proceeds of the Navy game in Hanover go to Strike purposes and members of the track team signed the Ivy League Heptagonal statement opposing the U. S. presence in Cambodia and Vietnam.
A major action by the athletes was a letter to all Dartmouth alumni clubs signed by 95 members of the varsity and freshman football squads. The letter explained the aims of the Dartmouth Strike, stated the players' opposition to the war in Indo-China and repression at home, and urged alumni to back the players' efforts and to make their views known to Congress.
