The James B. Reynolds Alumni Fund Trophy Award was presented to William S. Emerson '34 (left) by Richard D. Lombard '53, Alumni Fund chairman, on May 2 at the Class Agents' Association meeting in Hanover.
The citation, accompanying the award, read:
Although they had often come close, the Class of 1934 had not "put it all together" to win a Green Derby competition in their first 34 years as alumni. Last year, Head Agent Bill Emerson and his fellow class officers decided to do something about it and mounted a special campaign to significantly raise the level of class performance. The success of their efforts is clearly evident in the 1969 results. They placed third in dollar improvement to rank eighth among all classes in total dollars and broke into the select group of classes raising over $50,000. This, coupled with a strong showing in participation, brought them the Group 4 Green Derby title. The Alumni Fund Committee gratefully salutes Bill Emerson and his Class of 1934 and awards him the James B. Reynolds Trophy as the outstanding Head Agent of a class from 26 to 40 years out of College.
