Ten from '10! In ordinary math the result is zero. But in Tenner math the result is a revival of that old feeling. It indicates Dartmouth Tenners tend to hold tenaciously to that old tradition of attending to all necessary activities that will result in Tenners becoming tenants for a tentative residence in Hanover every time there's a tendency for Dartmouth classes to attend a reunion gathering. So there's a marked tendency to lay aside the necessary ten spots and give attention to the calendar in June.
The foregoing is just a few more than ten words to develop the idea that 1910 followed the old tradition and held the annual reunion. Present were: Bucky Allen, Larry Bankhart, Carl Bardwell, Ted Hill, Bones Jones, Mac Kendall, Bert Kent, Russ Meredith, Ray Seymour, Thayer Smith. The feminine delegation: Kay Allen, Orilla Moe, Sally Seymour, Madeline Wells.
Another informal Tenner reunion occurred later in the summer when Art Lord and Bert Kent joined forces. Art was in "the old home town" with his daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Logan, for part of his vacation. Bert was in Hanover for his annual eye examination. Art spotted Bert's name on the bulletin board in the Inn lobby which bears the label "Dartmouth's in Town Again." Art, as we all know, gave a helping hand to Andy Scarlet on the Alumni Fund of '71. We can all give a silent "Wah-Hoo-Wah" for Andy and Art's fine showing for the class.
A note from Whit Eastman tells us that "The Paul Books Ltd., a book publisher in London, is publishing a book, "Birds of the World," and has commissioned Karen and me to jointly author the chapter on North American Birds. They have also commissioned Karen to furnish colored pictures of typical North American Birds for the chapter. Our manuscript has been accepted."
In our 55 year Reunion Book under the heading "Time and a little girl ... who went to Tenner reunions just like her Dad & Mom" we showed in the various reunion pictures the growing up of Maria Barrett, daughter of Heinie Barrett. We now add another chapter as a result of the announcement of her marriage on August 21, 1971.
Although too late for us to record in the June magazine we now are pleased to pass along our congratulations to Herb andVirginia Woods on the celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary May 9, 1971. As noted in Andy's Alumni Fund letter to the class, Herb now has the honor as Dean of the class.
It remains to be seen whether enough Tenners will respond to the "Before Harvard" get together October 22.
