John Allen has been in the news as the youngest nuclear submarine commander in the U. S. Navy, continuing smartly in a career begun in Reserve Officers Training at Dartmouth. The USS Silversides is a nuclear attack submarine of the Sturgeon class and was launched in June at ceremonies on the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics in Connecticut. John had previously served aboard the Burkall, the Thomas Jefferson and the Lafayette, and he and Jewelle live in Gales Ferry near Groton.

Up from down under, Emerson Houck has returned to-Indiana where he will be Director of Economic and Marketing Research for Eli Lilly International Corp., a subsidiary of the giant pharmaceutical com- pany. In addition to being our hardworking Class Agent, Em has the distinction of a holding the seat on the Alumni Council of the College and those who work along with him on college activities are indeed glad to have him a little closer than he has been during the last couple of years while in Sydney. Sounds like a pretty good move professionally as well.

In a summer wedding, Peter Weed and Cheryl Clark were married in Greenwich, Connecticut. Pete and Cheryl continue their professional activities as editor with Dodd. Mead & Co. and director of the New York City Education Construction Fund, respectively.

Matliew Lorrimer is at the John F. Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge. Massachusetts in connection with his career in the Foreign Service after assignments in Uganda, Germany, and Zambia. The Lorrimers have two girls, Anne aged 5 and Sara who has just had her first birthday.

Steve Katz writing from Vietnam shared some thoughts on the satisfaction he has taken from rescuing downed aviators from the hands of the Vietcong and Pathet Lao where he serves with the Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Unit at Cam Ranh Bay. To Steve's credit he has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and 12 Air Medals in connection with 16 combat saves. Patti, his wife, has remained in the United States during his assignment, and the Katz's are looking forward to reassignment in California in the early part of 1972.

And in connection with moves to California, those sharp-eyed among you have spotted the address change above which took place when the Miles family moved to San Francisco last week. I have assumed responsibility for the Bank of California's business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Lynne and our two little girls and I look forward to finding out what the California sub-culture is all about. Recent evenings in San Francisco with Tom and Wendy Knott, who are natives after 15 years, and with Bill and Norma Beagle, who are near-natives after less than a year living in the Bay area, indicated that we should ve very pleased with what we find.

Line Spaulding says that we can remove the Reunion deficit and make a lot of kids happy if you step right up and order some left-over '56 green and white cotton jerseys as modeled by Line and Robbin in the last ALUMNI MAGAZINE at the give-away cost of $6 for one or $5 a piece for several. After one washing they are just right for teenagers, and you may write to Line at 14 Aylesbury Road, Worcester, Mass. 01609.

Glad to report that we will be hearing again from Bill Sherman and Fred Oman who will function as Social Chairman and Historian for the Class, and the next focal point is underneath the 1956 banner in the middle of Chase Field in Hanover at noon on October 30 for collective tail-gating prior to the Yale game. This good idea is being engineered by Egil Stigum and BertWhittemore.
