In October the obituary of Don Marriott carried the line that Mrs. Marriott was expecting their child in January. Brian Donald Marriott was born in Montclair, N.J., on January 31, the anniversary of his father's birthday, and it's wonderful to report that the new nine-pounder and mother are doing well. Mary Faith and her children live at a new address, I Emerson PI., Upper Montclair, N.J. 07043.

Dick and Jane Grover are at the New Era School in Panchani, India. Founded and run by the Baha'i World Faith, this school has 350 students from various countries, in kindergarten through high school. Their son Bruce is in kindergarten and daughter Allison is in the fourth grade there. Dick Gordon allows that while State College, Pa., may not be a hotbed of Dartmouth activity, life in a university town continues to be highly enjoyable. Dick's specialty in energy economics keeps- him very busy between the research work and the many conferences - all in spare time from his teaching, committee work, and the other academic duties.

Hank Pratt is now associate professor (with tenure) of political science at Wayne State University. Hank's current work includes research on the political behavior of aging Americans and its implications for U.S. national policy. Although he comments that it's nice for a change to have people ask "what's a young whippersnapper like you doing here?" he'd better make it clear that he's off duty at our next reunion! Hank has published various professional articles and two books, one a study of the political behavior of the National Council of Churches and the other an edited work on "ethno-religious" politics.

Bernt Stigum, professor of economics, and wife Marcia, associate professor, at Northwestern and Loyola, respectively, spent "a productive and interesting summer at the Math Research Center in Madison, Wis. In September dropped Erik, 5, off in Norway to visit grandparents and went on to Budapest to give a paper at the econometrics congress there. Family spent a fun Christmas in Florida swimming and sailing." Tony Newey, studying for a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, says that he has a long way to go and that he eventually hopes to have his own practice somewhere near an ocean. Never thought of Tennessee that way before, but it sure is. Dick McClintock on the other hand considers himself firmly entrenched in California. Dick is a civil engineer, geologist, forester, and laborer, keeping his 24-acre spread together in Mendocino County. Oh, yes. Dr. McClintock stays busy with his practice, too.

Bob Schuh lives just off the third green of the Crofton Country Club, Md„ where he has been the golf pro for the past nine years. Joan and Bob have three children, Stevie, Susie, and Scotty, ranging from seventh to second grades, and there are basketball and baseball coaching duties for that athletic dad, too. John and Mary Parke continue to enjoy St. Louis, Mo., where John has been busy setting up a new special pet-products department at Ralston Purina. Bill and MarilynNorton of Ithaca, N.Y., have two children, and recently Bill bought out his business partner in Ithaca Sporting Goods. That's another way to enjoy life in a university town.

Alan Rauch, owner of Oil Field Rental Service Co. in Houston, wins this month's don't - tell - me - you - don't - know - where - that - is award by reporting that he and his wife recently returned from three weeks touring some of the larger islands of The Society Islands Group. Makes one wonder if it's a winter retreat of the 400 or a fueling stop for The Jefferson Airplane. Curt Jones handles the industrial and commercial portion of the marketing research surveys for Marketing Facts. A sometimes visitor to New York, Curt sees Bob Krissel and Dutch Rosenberger, and KenThomas has made it to the Chicago area oc- casionally where out in Winnetka the Jones, Phyllis and Curt, Laura, 12, and Peter, 9, enjoy life complete with the usual domestic menagerie. Ken Thomas' boost for Atlanta a couple of months ago is independently seconded by DaveRice who says it "has got to be one of the top cities of the country - progressive, beautiful, entertaining - and all with a low price tag. The Rices and their teenage boys and girls moved to Denver last year with 1200 other Johns-Manville families, and they are enjoying the skiing, camping, and beauty of the Rockies.

Derry Evans writing from Elizabeth, N.J., says that he and Hilary and the children had a few days in Nantucket and are off shortly for two weeks business in London. Jonathan, 10, held a carnival benefiting Muscular Dystrophy and subsequently won the grand prize, an all-expense-paid trip to Hawaii which the whole family look forward to in April. Don Davidoff mentions that he is always impressed by the mobility of classmates, especially since the Davidoffs haven't moved at all. That is except for two years ago when they built a new house in the backyard of their old one. There in Albany, Joanne and Scott and Jeff make up the family, and Don is involved in N.Y. State administration of a hospital control program.

Connecticut General Life Insurance has promoted Chet Zinn to counsel, legal department, according to a release from Hartford. Chet, who was Phi Beta Kappa at Dartmouth, joined CG as an attorney in 1967, and was appointed assistant counsel in 1968 and associate counsel in 1970. His bachelor of laws degree came from Yale Law School and his master of laws from Boston University in 1972. The Zinns are the parents of Christopher, 3, and live in West Hartford at 331 Mountain Road.

In alumni-affairs news of the College, DonSpitzli, secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Tidewater, Virginia, and Jon Strong, secretary of the Dartmouth Association of Greater Boston, have been elected vice president and member, respectively, of the executive committee of the Dartmouth College Club Officers Association for 1973. Speaking of club officers, the group here in San Francisco, Dartmouth Club of Northern California and Nevada, has organized a monthly luncheon program (first Wednesday at the Commercial Club) that includes a worthwhile program and appears to be leading the way in recognizing the inevitability of alumnae one day by welcoming women guests today. If you many conventioneers and vacationers to the Bay area happen to be here on a first Wednesday, join in. Oh yes. The Commercial Club, is only on its way to being liberated, so remain undaunted if your lady draws glares from the assembled domino players.

Secretary, 112 Amber Valley Dr. Orinda, Calif. 94563

Treasurer, 6 Heneage Lane, Hanover, N.H. 03755
