There is something quite "great" about the class of 1900. Charlotte Sanborn widow of Channing T. Sanborn, reports the arrival of her first great grandson whose name is Douglas Wayne Ramsay. His father is an assistant professor at St. Lawrence University, Canton, N. Y. Alice, widow of Walter P. Rankin, reports twelve great grandchildren, so you see we are doing very well in the line of Greats. During this Spring Charlotte made her usual visit to her daughter's family in Dallas, Texas, and to her daughter Miriam in Ohio. The families are all doing well and several of the grandchildren are now in college.

Marjorie Smith, daughter of Alice and Walter P. Rankin, writes me that her mother had an interesting summer visiting a son in Lisbon, N. H. and another, Walter Jr., in West Falmouth, Mass., and the Smith family in Springfield, Mass. Marjorie's daughter Cynthia and her family from Atlanta spent three weeks with them and Alice wound up the season by having dinner with 21 members of the family. She is now back in her apartment in Longwood Towers, and seems to be doing very well for a lady of her years.

A long letter from Betty Redington, widow of Paul G. Redington, contained a question about the Indian Head appearing on our class cane. This is the tall tale that appears in a well-known Dartmouth song "Eleazer Wheelock with a Bible and a drum, and 500 gallons of New England rum" journeyed from Connecticut to the Hanover plain to teach the Indian. Since the Indians would have none of his medicine, he set up a school for the local gentry and this eventually became Dartmouth College. For the time being Betty is in a nursing home in Falls Church, Va., but very much hopes to be released soon by her physician and return to her apartment in Falls Church.

Ethel Woodman widow of James B.Woodman, recently had the job of attending the wedding of one of her granddaughters. From this it appears that she is in good health and still quite active.
