JUNE 1971

In the presence of the class officers gathered in Hanover last month, the Class of 1921 was named Dartmouth Class of the Year. This annual award, symbolized by a gavel with an engraved plate, is made "in recognition of an outstanding all-around program through the superior organization of class interest and participation to the benefit of the College and the cause of higher education." Three previous winners have been 1942, 1930, and 1960.

Honorable mention this year went to 1923, 1926, 1935, 1936, 1946, 1950, and 1964.

Cited among 1921's achievements during the year 1970 were a strong showing in the Alumni Fund, excellent advance work on the 50th reunion occurring this June, strong intra-class communication by means of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE column and the class newsletter, a memorial book plan, an exceptional 98% of class dues payers, and "just a whole lot of dedicated people who do good work for the College."
