At the start of the 1972 Alumni Fund campaign, the Joshua A. Davis Trophy for the greatest dollar improvement the year before was awarded to Horace Kidger, Head Agent of the Class of 1903. His citation was as follows:
"The Joshua Davis Trophy is awarded annually to the Head Agent achieving the greatest dollar improvement. In his second year as 1903 Head Agent, Horace Kidger raised the 1903 total by more than $14,000 to a record high, among all Veteran Classes, of $16,994. This put 1903 tops among all classes in percentage of dollar improvement.
"The Fund Committee is privileged to salute Mr. Kidger and the entire 1903 fellowship by awarding him the Joshua A. Davis Trophy for 1971."
