IN THE DISCUSSION leading up to Dartmouth's adoption of coeducation the phrase "a greater feminine presence" was used occasionally. After three years of women exchange students, that feminine presence has now begun in a matriculated way, and will become greater in the next few years. These photographs of young women on campus as coeducation began were taken by a transfer sophomore, Caroline Preston '75 of Lake Forest, Ill., who can be seen below peering through a telescope.
