Charlie Huntley in Austin, Texas, returned early in January from a trip to Southern California in the course of which he talked by phone with Ed Johnson but couldn't accept the latter's invitation to visit his San Diego home. Ed, according to Charlie Paddock who recently had a card from him, spends his summers climbing mountains "as in days of yore with the D.0.C." Charlie also reports that although at times he can't believe it, he and Ruth still have two daughters in college, Jane, a senior at Cedar Crest, now having a tremendous experience in South India as an exchange student; and Deborah, a junior at Elmira, looking forward to another spring semester in England. Charlie is still audit manager for Touche, Ross & Co. and he and Ruth are still enjoying the acre of lawn and the woods surrounding their Cape Cod house in Weston.

Chuck Downey has been named district manager for Gem Mayflower Movers in Springfield, Mass., a firm he has been with for the past ten years.

A note from Tom Gillespie said that he and Dot have been playing much bridge with Frank and Ev Strong but that the gals had been trimming the gents recently: "They let us win the first game and then bring out the heavy artillery!"

Art Keleher says that no '27ers have dropped by Dunedin lately, but hopes some will before winter is out, and that he hears now and then from Frank Coulter, FritzKortlucke, and Hooker Horton. He says he is still enjoying his retirement: "At 69 I am feeling fine; so is Marion (only she is a young kid.)"

Here are some items kindly sent along by Gus Cummings. Bo Head wrote that the Dartmouth Regional Conference in Houston on December 3 and 4 was a success; He saw Kroggie Krogstad, but Charlie Huntley was unable to attend.

A note from Phil Fowler brought the great news that he was making a good recovery which the doctor estimated would be 100%, that he would leave the hospital December 8, and that he and Madeleine would then go to Florida for a few months. Phil was already walking well with a cane which he expected to be able to discard shortly and added, "I can resume golf any time now, using my cane as a club."

With his class dues went a very nice note from Joe Gay, who was with us only a few months of freshman years, saying, among other things, "Because of my very limited attendance I've never felt like classifying myself as a Dartmouth man. However, as I grow older I find my interest in Dartmouth and some of the things she represents growing stronger. I have always regretted having left." Well Joe is a member of the Class of '27 and it would be great if he could get back to Hanover some time, say for a fall reunion, to renew old acquaintanceships.

Ron Michelini reported to Gus that he had retired from Westminster School last June and that he and Frances now have their own home in Simsbury, Conn., where "golfing, gardening, and 'antiquing' take up most of our time." Last fall Westminster named its playing fields for Ron "with impressive and pleasant ceremonies," an honor of which he may well be proud and the Class be proud and happy for him.

Cary and Helen Stiff's Christmas "Dogwood Farm Doin's" carried a lot of news of their family and photographs and stories of their travels to Charleston and the Carolina Coast, to Virginia, and through the West seeking out Rail and Trail Landmarks. A penned addendum announced the arrival of their ninth grandchild on Christmas Day.

Brownie Freeman reports that he has been "getting progressively more retired for the past eight years and now out of most business activities. He left early in January for a cruise to South America, and in March will go to Eleuthera, Bahamas for golf and fishing, but hopes to spend a good part of the summer at his place in North Pomfret, Vt.

Chairman Paul Hannah is hard at work on plans for our Forty-fifth Reunion, Monday-Wednesday, June 11-13, 1973 in' the group with '28, '29, and '33. At present his committee includes Ben Bell, Roger Bury, Don McCall, Ken Murray,Page, Jay Willing, and your scribe Assignments for these and for other members expected to be named by President Mullin will be announced presently, but it is not too soon for everyone to be shaping plans for being on hand. Let's have a record turnout!
