Mail is extremely light, so as I warned you last month, we will start with a small pitch for the 1972 Alumni Fund. As a reunion class, we are not in a Green Derby this year but are part of the "Reunion Roundup" which includes all classes having reunion in 1972. Bob Thomas, I'm sure, will be filling you in with more detail on this as time goes on, but we did get off to a pretty good start during the first two weeks of the year. The first 19 gifts or pledges received from '41 amounted to $5,808, which was an increase for these 19 men of a total of more than $500. Now, if we can keep this nattern of increased contributions going through June 30th, we should be able to do a pretty good job in our 30th Reunion Fund Drive. For your information, the present record of contributions for a 30th reunion class is held by 1940 with a total of $49,202. After all, in 12 days from 19 classmates we have already reached almost 12% of that figure. At that pace it will only take a couple hundred more gifts for us to top 1940's total.

Bill Cashel, president of Bell Telephone Company of Philadelphia and of the Diamond State Telephone Company, will become chairman of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce on July 1 of this year. His election to the position was unanimous. He also is a member of the board of directors of the Academy of Music and of the Philadelphia Orchestra Association, a trustee of the Philadelphia Savings Fund Society and of Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, and a director of the First Pennsylvania Bank, just to name a few positions.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association met in Florida last January, and awarded to their former president and board chairman. Snuffy Smith the following citation:

College Athletic Business Managers Association presents the DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD to Irving F. Smith in recognition of his meritorious service to college athletics, his leadership, his devotion to his country and the notable example he has set in personal integrity

It was obvious from Howie Wilson's great "Dope from the Duckboard" that came in last month that he has the formula for getting correspondence from the Class. Accordingly, since my file is empty, I'll confine myself to campaigning for the Alumni Fund and, when news is available regarding the Reunion, I will pass that along too.

I'd still love to hear from anyone who would like to write.
