DECEMBER 1968 EARL H. COTTON, LOUIS A. YOUNG JR.

Apparently one of the best things about the Princeton game weekend was 1941's Third Annual Fall Reunion at Spofford Lake outside of Keene. Your Secretary was unable to attend but arranged for a reporter to cover the festivities. His notes were a bit sketchy, but such information as could be gleaned from them follows. Most of the group arrived at Spofford Friday afternoon in time for dinner. Saturday morning a chartered bus, supplied with set-ups, soft drinks, and even a "john" took the party to Hanover, arriving in time for a picnic in front of Leverone Field House. After lunch the group enjoyed a sun bath high up in the comfortable new East Stand, which, I understand is finished in aluminum with plastic seat covering. (This has got to be an improvement over the existing splinter board seats in the West Stand.) After the debacle, the party returned to Spofford in time for cocktails and a dinner-dance.

Larry (the Arkansas traveler) Tennant traveled the farthest distance to attend the reunion. He is now president of a Fort Smith, Ark., furniture company, the world's largest manufacturer of baby beds and cribs. Jane and Larry combined the weekend with a visit to their son in Hanover and a lobster eating swing through New England. Also, on hand were Beth and LinThompson, who are an actress and director team at a Massachusetts playhouse. (I'm sorry I can't give Lin a better plug, but the reporter's notes on the name of the playhouse were illegible.) Pat and Bud Hart, regular participants in these annual reunions, arrived early and stayed late. At this point, the reporter's notes again became a little confusing, but it appears that there was some talk in the group of putting in either Lin Thompson or Bud Hart to stop those Princeton sweeps during the second half. Nancy and Lee Trudeau were on hand celebrating a great second season at their Beeches Lodge in Sebago Lake, Me. All went well at their resort with the exception of a few weeks when Lee had to pinch hit for a sick chef. They reported, however, that most of the guests apparently survived.

Dan Provost was awarded first prize for his interpretive dancing, with Karl Blume's frau Catherine taking a close second. Dan was joined at the reunion by his son, Dick, who is a student at nearby New England College. Dick, an aspiring young writer, while observing the goings-on, was heard to mutter: "I wonder if anything good will ever come of this older generation?" Others on hand at Spofford included Red Taft with his son, Sue and George Seel, Betty and BobDarbee, Lee and Charlie Kazaross, and Margaret and Bob Chisholm, accompanied by two sons and a daughter-in-law. If others were on hand for the reunion and were not included in the foregoing report, your secretary joins his reporter in extending apologies for the oversight.

The Harvard game was as unproductive of news as it was of victory. The only classmates seen to be recognized by the 1941 reporter were the Art Stevens, Unc Richardsons, Dick Hills, Dan Provosts and BruceFriedlichis.

Bob Tepper has left the Allied Store organization to head the expanding retail store division of Manhattan Shirt Company. Bob, Winnie and their youngest daughter, Patty, will be moving back to the New York area. Their son, John, was married October 26 and has returned to his Army duties with the Infantry. A second son, Bruce, is a sophomore at Dartmouth. Daughter Peggy is a senior at Ohio University and daughter Wendy is a freshman at Kent State. JohnWhite, noted marketing expert and piano player, with seven daughters, has become vice president of Bruce Friedlich Company, Inc. The pharmaceutical agency of which John has been a principal has merged with Bruce's agency.

Treasurer Lou Young's second son, Jeff, is captain of his high school football team and when last heard from was leading them to an undefeated season from his left guard spot in the true Young manner.

Carolyn and Lew Johnstone were East for the Yale game and continued on from New Haven to visit their son Knox and his wife in Hanover and then on to Newport, R. I., to see younger son Stan who is on duty there with the Navy.

I missed the public announcement, but I have been told that Dick Hill's wife, Polly, was the proud winner of Betty Crocker's East Coast Baking Championship. Her winning recipe was for tutti-frutti brownies.

Prexy Bruce Friedlich reports having spent a recent evening with Fred Leopold in Beverly Hills. He reports that Fred looks younger than ever and still plays a lot of tennis. Fred has returned to the Beverly Hills City Council after a two-year hitch as mayor.

We are running several months behind in our reporting of address changes. Part of the most recent changes received appear below, and the balance will follow in next month's column.
