Class President Tom Shirley, being assured that George Stoddard and EdFelt are working on our 1973 June Reunion and Dwight Sargent is busy heading the nominating committee, flew off with his Priscilla to spend March in California.
Tom Jones, who has headed this year's Florida Pow Wow, writes that his brother Charles has a big yard on which to work. Tom gave up such, but is now busier than ever in other activities so he is far from being sedentary.
Stump Barr wrote that Jake andMiriam Bingham were at the Hanover Clinic to get clearance for a tour on the Gripsholm, the same that Lois Morse and Syl and Minetta Morey took last year.
Had a phone message from Paul Erwin who lives on the Philadelphia Main Line, as chatty and chipper as ever. However, had to tell him I would not attend the local alumni annual dinner, for City Line Avenue at my age is a rat trap at night. Why the Philadelphia Club doesn't settle for center city where all in the three-state area can go by public transportation, especially in winter, I don't understand. Paul should be there, for his son is due to move from vice president to being head man. Also a tab of $9.50 a plate, not counting the bar check, causes this retired duffer to stay home. How else can one such meet inflation?
A letter from Doc Angell's widow Catherine reports she is enjoying life at Randolph, Vt. It would be good to see Catherine and Bob Fish together, for they both have the same physical handicap, yet each makes fun of it and gives joy to others, even those who have no troubles.
Trust that George M. Davis has now recovered from his long illness of this year for we are told his new address is 16 North Chatsworth Ave., Larchmont, N. Y. 10538.
Also note that the understanding widow of Stanley B. Jones, now lives at Apt. 211 B, 4000 Cathedral Ave., Washington D. C. 20016 in order to be near her daughter and famous son-in-law.
Mrs. Micheal McDonough is now at 333 Main St.. Apt. 3, Melrose, Mass. 02176.
We regret to report that we received from Paul Miner a newspaper report that Charles L. Benesch, at age 75, died on February 22. We have written Charlie's widow Gertrude a note of sympathy for the Class. In another issue there should be an obituary.
George von Kapff, the Baron of Monadnock Mountain in southern New Hampshire has his agents scouting the trails to be assured that all of us maintain 1918's excellent support in this year's annual Alumni Fund. So the old cry, "1918 Up!"
