Having been designated the Dartmouth Club of the year last fall by the Club Officers Association, we have been trying all year to live up to the honor. A busy and wonderful year it has been for the Club. President and Jean Kemeny visited us in February and were the highlight of a dinner meeting held at the Marriott Motor Motel. Over 100 attended this meeting at which Club President Jack Huber '63 presided. Walt Boden '55 was the general chairman for this event and received terrific assistance from Larry Russell '54 who arranged the fine Marriott hospitality. DickEverett '40 and Kelly Coffin '43 came through as usual with valuable supervision and direction. We were pleased to have AdWinship '42, director of development for the College and brother-in-law of DonCrance '43 partake in the festivities. President Kemeny's address on the Dartmouth Plan and coeducation was well received.
The Kemeny visit concluded the following day with a trip to Underground Atlanta led by venerable alumnus Chuck Palmer '18, as well as luncheons in their honor.
On March 22, we had an evening of song with Paul Zeller and the Dartmouth Glee Club. Over 200 attended this event which evoked much nostalgia from those present. Don Crance was chairman for this occasion and had wonderful assistance from his wife Pat, and from Hud and Lois King '43, Jim Valentine '63, Ira and Delia Archer '62, and Charley Moses '38. It was a particular pleasure for those of us who had an opportunity to have members of the glee club stay at our homes. This is truly an outstanding group of young men.
While the visit of the Kemenys and the glee club to Atlanta has started our year winging, in a real sense the highlight of this and every year is the continuing vitality of our membership, particularly in the area of enrollment. Dick Everett as enrollment director is constantly seeing that the best from Georgia are going to Hanover.
Atlanta is a vibrant city with many newcomers. Please let me know if you are one of them.
