Gene Davis, familiarly known as "Doc" around Manchester, Conn., and its environs, was honored recently by being chosen to be one of the two men to spade up the traditional first shovelful of earth for a new, local, convalescent hospital, the first all-concrete building of its kind in the country.
We hear that Paul Jameson has been nominated to be treasurer for the coming year of the Dartmouth College Club of New York; that the March 28 New York Herald Tribune carried an article by Harry Enders entitled "U. Wives, daughters, sons, grandparents and grandchildren of '29ers (any '29er reading this - please hand this to the nearest appropriate relative) please harken to this plea: Please send any kind, or all kinds, of information which could conceivably be of interest to the classmates of your husband, father, grandson or grandfather (as the case may be) to the class secretary whose name and address appears at the head of these notes. Reason: one out of ten classmates reply to an inquiry from your secretary; one out of 35-40 will write in about a change of business or home address; one out of 70-75 will write anything about himself - or even forward a newspaper or magazine clipping that helps to provide a record, over the years, of his accomplishments and interests. And remember, please, these notes are read not only by classmates, but by interested friends in classes both before and after good old '29! Thanks, in advance, for the anticipated (?) flood of mail!
And now for an item that could stand further elaboration - John K. Pierce '54, son of Inches Pierce, is engaged to Katherine Hildreth, Wellesley '58, whose father was formerly Governor of Maine and Ambassador to Pakistan. John is with the Guaranty Trust Company in New York.

A clipping from The Boston Herald indicates that Bob Monahan has filed for renomination as one of Hanover's four state representatives and goes on to say "If reelected he would seem a logical choice for chairman of the House committee on resources, recreation and development, of which he was ranking majority member last year — if that happens look for a real attempt at New Hampshire water pollution cleanup." Also, have heard from Bob that Karl Michael's son Bob graduated this last June and that Art and Esther Nighswander had a wonderful trip to Europe last spring which included visiting with daughter Mildred who was studying at the Sorbonne in Paris.
Received, just too late for the June issueof the MAGAZINE, a note from Jerry Swopewith the following quotation from LarryLougee:
Mary and I can hardly believe that a half year has already passed since we came to Germany. It has been most interesting work sitting full time as the equivalent of a circuit judge. My cases have taken me to Nurnberg, Goeppingen, Moehringen and other places. In fact I was just called from Heidelberg and asked if I could fly down to Turkey and sit on a case so you can see it offers a real chance to get around. I've just learned that on July 1 I am again being moved - this time to Heidelberg where I am to be the Senior Judge and head up this Law Officer Program for the whole of Europe. Headquarters USAREUR is located there at Heidelberg and I'll be near center of Army activities in this command. Of course, Mary doesn't relish a second move within 6 months but she's been in the Army long enough to grin and bear it.
