Our thanks for providing material for the column this months go to Eric Larsen and DickBailey. Eric writes: "I have enjoyed reading your articles in the Alumni Magazine and thought that I would finally answer your plea for news to put in them. This was prompted by a visit from FrankCrouse and his wife Lorraine and two children who flew down to Pinehurst, N.C., to visit my wife Carrie and me last month. Frank is currently doing consulting work for Haskin and Sels and his current job involves trying to straighten out the U.S. Navy. It would seem to me that that would be a lifetime proposition. Frank is flying a Mooney Ranger so things are apparently going well for him. Tony Wattleworth is now located in Bend, Oregon, in the practice of orthopaedics. Tony finished his residency in orthopaedics at University Hospital's of Cleveland and spent the last two years in the Air Force. The last I heard, Bill Carlson and Roger McArt are both located in Cleveland, Ohio and are both doing well in the business world. A Christmas card from GerryMcDonald reveals that he will be in the practice of orthopaedics in California.

"As for myself, I am now enjoying practice in Pinehurst, N.C., after finishing my training in General and Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital's of Cleveland. Carrie and I have two children, Kris, six, and Steven, four. We spent our last two years stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., with good old Uncle. Now that I have my surgical boards out of the way, I find that private practice is just as much fun as I had hoped it would be.

"I was wondering if you had any information about the whereabouts of such people as SamHughes, Fritz Kern, Jack Houser, Jack Tottle,Andy Urkhardt, and several others. I hope this letter will offer some grist for your mill."

John Zabriskie has been named manager of pharmaceutical and fluid manufacturing for Merck Sharp & Dohme, division of Merck & Co., Inc., of West Point, Pa. John, who used to answer to "Zabo," went out from the College to earn a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Rochester, and can now answer to "doctor." He joined Merck in 1965 as a senior chemist and, before his recent appointment, was senior manager, pharmaceutical quality control.

Dick Bailey writes: "While Massachusetts may be the Lone Star State fox now, some of us look forward to a whole flag-full waving over the party of Daniel Webster. I've just been elected to a twoyear term on the State Central Committee of the Michigan Democratic Party and am glad to work toward that goal. Perhaps you could invite other Dartmouth-Democrats of '61 to write to you. A column of news from that side of the political arena would at least startle the readership of the Alumni Magazine*."

Well, Dick, this volumn is open to everyone in the Class to share their thoughts and experiences with their classmates. Democrats, Republicans, Socialists, Communists, Anarchists or whatever are welcome to send in letters. We tend to print everything pretty much verbatim, so anything a classmate sends in, he can be fairly sure that his material will appear as written. Of course, he better believe in what he is saying because his words will be judged by over 600 critical classmates!
