We have learned that William J. Pelle has been appointed assistant regional administrator for fair housing and equal opportunity in HUD's Mid-Atlantic Region III. The fair housing division is responsible for assuring that housing is sold, rented and financed in a nondiscriminatory manner and seeing that all HUD funds for both housing and community development facilities are spent in a non-discriminatory manner and within the framework of affirmative action plans. The office gives priority to the development and implementation of voluntary affirmative marketing plans between HUD and various housing finance agencies, human relations commissions, home-builders, and realtors' associations at the state and local levels. It also gives priority to minority business contracts. The job won't be easy in a Presidential election year in which the "ethnic purity" of neighborhoods is something of an issue!

Bill's office covers the five-state region of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, and . West Virginia, plus the District of Columbia, with headquarters in Philadelphia. He joined HUD in 1967 and has been a director of program planning and evaluation. In 1973, working jointly with Governor Moore of West Virginia, Bill coordinated the planning and redevelopment of the 17-mile flood-devastated Buffalo Valley area. He picked up a Master's in urban planning at Harvard, and worked with several state and local governmental agencies prior to joining the feds.

Thoughts this month inevitably turn to the 15th (plus one) Reunion of our Class in June 1977. Attending the 15th is a must for anyone who likes to think of himself as still being not much different from the fun-loving devil he was as an undergrad, because this is our last reunion B.O.O.T. That acronym stands for Before the Onslaught of Our Teenagers, and if you've been to either of our previous gatherings, you know what I mean. Many members of the classes celebrating their 20th through 30th Reunions make the mistake of bringing their high school and college age offspring with them, and wind up spending the weekend trying to keep junior away from the beer and daughter from getting too friendly with classmate Joe X's son, recalling what a lecher Joe X was, and doubtless still is. Worst of all, the attending kids are ail-too-obvious reminders that the grads are literally a generation removed from those golden college days. Make your plans now for the 15th, the last stop before passing the point of no return.

Dave Prewitt has agreed to serve as chairman of this last-chance B.O.O.T. reunion, and eagerly seeks volunteers to take on specific tasks as members of the reunion committee, as well as our suggestions for the three-day affair. Dave lives in Radnor, Pa., and can be reached at (215) 687-6083. On the other side of the coin, so to speak, Gerry Kaminsky will be in charge of the reunion year giving program. We'll doubtless be hearing from Dave and Gerry, especially Gerry, throughout the coming year.
