There's something to be said for a 17-1 record in frosh hockey, a 13-4 mark in basketball, and an 8-0 effort in track.
The biggest news is Jim Higgins' frosh hockey team that lost its opener and didn't lose again. The Pea Green scored 9.94 goals per game in 18 outings as wing Danny Tomlak (64 points including 23 goals) and center Tom Fleming (63 points, 36 on goals) set the pace.
The second line of Sandro Orlando, Ken Pettit, and Dan Leigh was equally impressive (they combined for 58 goals) and defensemen Kevin Downing, Chris Hodgson, and Gordie Miles will also help next year.
In basketball, Adam Sutton, a 6-5 forward, was the leading scorer on a 13-4 team (the Green won five of six against Ivy League opposition) as he scored at a 21.3-point clip.
The key help, however, may come from 6-8 Mark Donoghue and 6-5 Bill Healey who will hopefully provide the varsity with the rebounding ability that was missing this season.
Donoghue was the rebounding leader and had a 15.6-point average, while guard Don Lambert had an 11.3-point average.
The 8-0 effort of the jayvee track team was built on the overall strength of Coach Ken Weinbel's reserves.
In squash, the Dartmouth jayvees had a 6-3 record, the best in five seasons. In swimming, the reserves finished 4-5.
