The Roger C. Wilde 1921 Reunion Trophy was presented to two members of the Class of 1922 at Class Officers Weekend by Seth Strickland '60, vice chairman of the Agents Association. It went to Spencer F. Smith and to Carter H. Hoyt posthumously, with the following citation:
If a way could be found to generate as much activity as produced by Carter Hoyt and Spenny Smith during their 50th Reunion Campaign, the nation's impending energy crisis might well be solved. Starting a full year before their Reunion, Carter and Spenny began pointing toward an all out effort which would lift their class to a new record for 50th year classes of $85,000, a mark which few would have thought possible. The only, yet tragically major, flaw in this proud record year for 1922 was Carter's untimely death before the final results were known. The Fund Committee is proud to salute Carter Hoyt, posthumously, Spenny Smith and the entire Class of 1922, as the recipients of the Roger C. Wilde '21 Award for outstanding achievement in the Reunion Giving Program for 1972.
