The gifts described below are those received during the three month period ending March 31, 1973 in the range of $5,000 and above which were not applied to the Alumni Fund or the Third Century Fund. The intent is to demonstrate the various ways in which alumni and. friends of Dartmouth have designated their support of the College. This group of gifts totals $2,083,396. There were also a great number of gifts of less than $5,000 which totalled $156,001.50 for the period.

Bequests

Trust estate of ROBERT F. THOMPSON 1908: $5,674, unrestricted.

Estate of Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES W. ISBELL: $100,834 addition to the Charles W. Isbell 1918 Scholarship making a total of $318,167.

Estate of EDWIN B. PEASE 1925: $109,330 to establish a fund in his name for unrestricted purposes.

Estate of EDGAR M. BATCHELDER 1927: $100,000 to establish a fund in his name, unrestricted.

Trust estate of HAROLD M. WALTER 1928: $103,280 to establish a fund in his name, unrestricted.

Estate of CORINNE S. BAKETEL, widow of Dr. H. Sheridan Baketel 1895 Medical: $50,000 addition to a scholarship in his name for Medical School students.

Trust estate of CLARENCE B. LITTLE 1915: $245,000 addition to a fund in his name, for purposes to be determined later.

Estate of MARGARET S. MORFOOT: $240,000 to establish the Margaret S. Morfoot (1904) Fund, unrestricted.

Gifts Subject to Life Income

LEE R. MACHALE 1915: $40,156 addition to the Anne Jane MacHale 1915 Gift Fund for unrestricted purposes.

ALUMNUS, Class of 1923: $5,000 to establish a fund in his name for general purposes.

ALUMNUS, Class of 1924: $25,000 addition to a scholarship fund in his name.

ANONYMOUS ALUMNUS, Class of 1925: $15,000 to establish a fund in his name with both principal and income unrestricted.

HAROLD T. MARSHALL 1926: $95,125 to establish the Mr. & Mrs. Harold T. Marshall 1926 Scholarship Fund.

JOHN C. HUBBARD 1929: $51,281 to establish a fund in his name for faculty support.

DR. ALAN LESLIE 1930: $22,118 addition to the Leslie-Swain 1930 Fund for use in instruction and for student loans and scholarships.

RICHARD L. EMERSON 1934: $10,094 to establish a fund in his name for general purposes.

Gifts from Alumni & Friends

MRS. ORVIL W. SMITH, widow 1903: $6,603 addition to the Orvil W. Smith 1903 Fund for general purposes.

CLIFFORD L. FITZGERALD 1925: $10,000 toward a pledge of $25,000 for the construction of the Rupert C. Thompson Arena.

LEE A. CHILCOTE 1930: $92,000, in his name as an addition to the 1930 Faculty Fund.

G. MORRISON HUBBARD JR. 1932: $10,081 for the construction of the Rupert C. Thompson Arena.

ARTHUR I. RAUCH 1954: $5,000 to establish a fund in his name in support of the Alumni Fund.

DR. WILLIAM RUBIN, Friend of the College: $70,000 for purposes to be determined later.

Grants from Foundations

BARBARA AND CLIFFORD MICHEL FOUNDATION, INC. (1930): $15,000 toward a pledge of $50,000 for the construction of the Rupert C. Thompson Arena.

THE FAIRCHILD FOUNDATION, INC.: $400,000 toward a pledge of $3 million for the construction of The Sherman Fairchild Physical Sciences Center.

THE FLORENCE AND JOHN SCHUMANN FOUNDATION: $5,000 for scholarships for black students.

Grants from Corporations

E. I. DUPONT DE NEMOURS & Co.: $5,000 in support of the Thayer Associates Program, $5,000 Science Grant for Chemistry, $1,000 applied to the Physics Department, and $1,000 discretionary fund for graduate study.

FIRST NATIONAL CITY BANK: $5,000 in support of the Tuck Associates Program.

GULF OIL FOUNDATION: $5,000 to the Tuck School for fellowships.
