It has been a long, dry summer filled with agonizing political trauma, rapidly accelerating inflation and gallons of new Latex paint on the walls and ceilings of the McCarter house. Alice and I both felt that our 15th Reunion last June was the most enjoyable that the Class of '60 ever had.

A word of thanks is due for the outstanding efforts during the past four years by SpenceMorgan, Tom Brock, and Dick Ossen, our retiring president, treasurer and secretary, respectively, by Gene Kohn, our newsletter editor, Dick Harrison, our head agent, and all of our other classmates who have assisted as class agents, served on the executive committee and otherwise participated in class and alumni affairs. The new executive committee has been enlarged to 21 members and in addition to the five mentioned above includes Seth Strickland,Arnie Sigler and myself, the new class officers, and Eric Anderson, Chuck Brower, Bruce Clark, Jon Cohen, Max Eveleth, Walt Freedman, Dick Griggs, Bill Gundy, Tom Kirby, Phil Kron, Gus Leach, Tom McBurney and Al Stowe.

Dick Ossen left me some interesting material for my first class notes. In fact, Dick is the subject of the first piece of news. He started his own consulting firm known as Group Dynamics, Ltd. with offices in Tarrytown, N.Y. Dick writes that his firm consists of "human relations and communications people" and that he works with small businesses in Westchester (N.Y.) and lower Connecticut. He states that he always wanted to run his own show and finally got up the courage to do it! Congratulations and good luck, Dick.

A number of new jobs and promotions have occurred during the late spring and summer. We can hardly keep pace with the rapid advancement of Wes Roodhouse who in May was elected as senior vice president by Southland Royalty Company, an oil and gas company based in Fort Worth, Texas. As was reported in the May '74 issue of the, Alumni Magazine, Roody joined the company only last March as a vice president for corporate planning. Tom Alaimo has been named a vice president in the marketing division of Carborundum Co., an abrasive products manufacturer located in Niagra Falls, N.Y. And Dudley Smith has sent a news clipping from Minneapolis announcing the appointment of Bob Hatch as vice president and general manager of the new protein division of General Mills, Inc. Bob had previously been an executive vice president of Gorton Corp., a seafood subsidiary. of General Mills in Gloucester, Mass.

Gordie De Witt is the new associate director of planning at Dartmouth after a realignment of functions in the business manager's office. Gordie was formerly assistant business manager and will continue to work with Dick Olmsted, who has been named to the newly established post of director of planning and is responsible for planning and major construction. Gordie and Olmsted will devote a major portion of their time to long-range facilities and land use planning giving particular attention to the energy crisis as it affects present and future operations of the College. Gordie is a trustee of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Academy.

On April 1, 1974, Roger Zissu became a member of the New York City law firm of Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman, P.C. Rog joined the firm about a year earlier having decided to return to private law practice after serving for several years as corporate counsel for Vornado, a New Jersey corporation.

Bob McClure has been elected as treasurer of Beatrice Foods Co. with headquarters in Chicago. Bob will be responsible for all areas of corporate finance and financial administration, including short and longterm domestic and international financing and cash management. Bob joined Beatrice Foods following graduation from Dart- mouth and earned his master's degree in 1972 from Northwestern University Graduate School of Management, where he majored in finance. Prior to his election as assistant treasurer in 1973, he served as administrative assistant to the vice president, corporate development, where he worked to expand both domestic and international operations.

Our classmates in the teaching profession continue to gain recognition for outstanding achievement. Peter Klaren, an associate professor of history at George Washington University, is the recipient of a one year fellowship for the study of the agrarian history of Latin America. Rick Hite, an associate professor of drama at Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, Va., has been selected as a Fulbright lecturer for the 1974-75 academic year. Rick will lecture in American Studies at La Laguna University on Tenerife Island in the Spanish Canary Islands and will pursue his long standing interest in contemporary Spanish drama, a subject that he feels has been seriously neglected in this country by students of drama and theatrical producers. Rick started teaching at Virginia Wesleyan in 1969 after teaching at Johns Hopkins University and Madison College in Harrisonburg, Va. He received his M.A. degree from Johns Hopkins and his Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He is the first Virginia Wesleyan faculty member to receive a Fulbright-Hays lectureship.

I expect I will see a number of you at football games this fall. Jake Crouthamel voiced the old Blackman pessimism at reunions, but the season should be exciting with a great series of games in Hanover. Watch your mail for announcements of special class functions such as a dinner at D.O.C. House. Perhaps Al Stowe, our Outrageous Events chairman, and Sam Bowlby will give us a repeat performance of their Reunion Show.

Keep an eye open for news of classmates and send it along with a note about yourself. I would like to hear from all of you.
