News is very scarce so this will be short. Bernice, Bill Mason's widow, reports of her visit to Albany, N.Y. where they lived for years. She visited many old friends and had a nice visit with Milt Aronowitz and found him in fair good spirits and recovering from his tragic loss last year. The secret of Milt's recovery is his intense interest in many things, not only in his community, but in his outstanding work and success with the Alumni Fund, the renewal of his law practice, and his unceasing efforts to interest talented boys in Dartmouth. Bernice says hello and best wishes to his classmates, wives, and families. Sometimes one wonders what it all about.

The other day it was necessary to take Gus. our 14-year-old dachshund to the vet for a serious operation. I said goodbye to him, doubtful if I would ever see him alive again. After removal of a large tumor, five teeth and a growth on his eyelid which would have caused blindness, lo and behold, he is home again, with a big appetite and quite active for his age.

Another item. My wife Frances objected to airing our woes, but here goes. She underwent a major operation 10 days ago at the Winchester Hospital. Winchester, Mass. She is recuperating nicely, praise be, and hopes to be home soon.

Carl Shumway has moved again and is now at Huntington Mills Farm, Bradford Vt. 05033. Enjoy the fall season and good health.
