Since it's late fall and everyone's well back on the career wheel, it was of more than passing interest to chat with Dutch and Caryl Cotton recently and learn of a much different calendar. A steel executive and past president of the New England Council, Dutch has a business pattern which makes it best for the Cottons to take time off starting in December. They accordingly built a house in the Bahamas, where they stay through the holidays, he returning to the wheel in late winter and she in April. (They were en- countered by pleasant chance doing a vigorous samba, or conga, or tango - I can't keep track of the steps any more - at their tennis club near home in Bedford, N.H.)
A recent clip advises that Warner Bishop has been named chairman and a director of Transohio Financial Corp., Columbus, a savings and loan holding company. He had been chairman of Union Financial Corp. until its recent acquisition by Transohio. And Bill Cashel, president of the Bell Telephone Co. of Pennsylvania, has become a member of the board of managers of Milton Hershey School and the M.S. Hershey Foundation, as well as being elected to the board of the Hershey Trust Co. Dick Hill has been elected to the Polaroid Corp. board.
The Wilton, Conn., paper carried a happy story about the Fred Wietings: "They had lived in Norwalk for 17 years before being transferred to Arlington, Texas, where they lived for three years. 'The heat and cultural lag in Texas didn't appeal to us,' Mrs. Wieting said, 'and we're glad to be back home.' He is public relations director of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Mrs. Wieting attended Texas University for two years, majoring in art, and has won several prizes for her work. They have two children, Mrs. Neil Esposito and Kurt, 15, in Wilton High School."

Here's a good letter from Red and AgnesO'Connor: "We took Debbie on an auto trip out West, covering about 2,500 miles in 21h. weeks and taking in such places as Yellowstone National Park, Glacier Nat'l Pk., and Expo '74 in Spokane. En route we spent several very enjoyable days with Russ and Genie Garfield at their fabulous cattle ranch, Diamond Ranch, in Forsyth, Mont. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire state of New Hampshire fitted within the boundaries of Diamond Ranch. Russ and Genie treated us royally to a 'Garfield Tour' of the entire ranch and its surroundings and a sumptuous barbeque among the cattle and the coyotes. It was wonderful to see them again (they were roommates in Hanover-Ed).
"I am still with the March of Dimes, and became Legal Counsel and Assistant Secretary a year ago. Since '68 I have served on a number of ad hoc committees pertaining to federal, state, and local laws regulating the solicitation of funds for charitable purposes. I have compiled state statutes and drafted a 1970 "Model for State Legislation Regulating Charitable Organizations" and "Model for Local Ordinances" covering same.
"These models were subsequently accepted and endorsed in 1970 by most of the leading national voluntary health agencies. The 1970 state law was adopted verbatim by South Carolina and is pending in Missouri and Alaska. (I missed the 30th Reunion since I had to testify before a committee of the S.C. Legislature on this.) An updated 'Model for State Legislation. ... '(1973) is pending in Maryland and was followed substantially by Kansas and Virginia.
"Have been active in the National Health Council and was its representative on a committee on Federal legislation to regulate charitable solicitations appointed by Rep. Van Deerlin, of Calif. In addition to testifying before a number of State legislative committees and agencies I've presented seminars on charitable solicitations around the U.S. in '73 and '74. Best wishes, Red."
A little more, from a lengthy Univ. of Pittsburgh release, on Dr. Albert B. Ferguson: he was named president-elect of the American Orthopaedic Assn. at its recent meeting; he will preside at the joint meeting of the Orthopaedic Surgeons of the English Speaking World in London in 1976. Fergy has collaborated with a British professor to write the seventh edition of a general orthopaedic text, and wrote Orthopaedic Surgery in Infancy and Childhood. Chairman of the Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Univ. of Pittsburgh, he is also executive committee chairman of his city's Presbyterian - University Hospital. Among many other medical activities he has developed new operations for injuries in athletics and seems among the best-qualified person anywhere to do a text on How to Stay Tireless and inEverything After Fifty. Fergy, here's my reser- vation in advance for a copy - how many others want one?
