Last July the Multibank Financial Corporation of Boston established a new position dealing with corporate services outside the geographic areas served by the bank holding. company's subsidiaries. Thus Woody Goss received a promotion to the new position of vice president, National Division. This prompted Nancy to write a very nice letter describing a few of their family activities. Most notable was a three week spring vacation trip to Europe. The Gosses and their three sons traveled through Italy, Switzerland, France, Holland, and England primarily by train. They all loved it and recommend it for others whose children are the 8-18 bracket.
You probably all remember Bellows Falls, Vt., on the way to Northampton, Hartford, New York, etc. (Messers Charbonnier and will certainly remember it well, I'm sure) Professor Jere Daniell spoke there last August to the 197th Annual Pilgrimage of the Rockingham Meeting House. His topic was "Small Town New England; Image Reality." I would have loved to hear the talk because I keep telling my family that small town New England living must be heaven. Jere knows the reality well since he grew up in one an lives in Hanover.
Another small town New Englander, Dick Hopkins, is making good in the big city of Chicago. Dick was named vice president of marketing for the grinding machine division of Warner and Swasey. He will be responsible for sales service, advertising, sales engineering and order entry. He has been with W and S for 19 years most recently as Chicago district sales manager. .
Ace Hall has received another interesting and chalienging assignment at the Department of Transportation. He is now deputy administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration. In this new position he will continue to work actively in the development of the Northeast Corridor rail passenger system. However, he will also be second in command at this important agency which regulates the area of railroad safety as well as contributing to the further development of our railroad passenger and freight service.
Bill Gavitt, an Air Force lieutenant colonel, has been named deputy base commander of the Air Force Base at Minot, N.D. Bill is a member of the SAC and just recently completed the course at the Naval War College, Newport, R.I. For those city slickers among you, be aware that Minot is in the heart of the spring and durum wheat production area. Life can be rugged there. It was 16 degrees in nearby Bismarck on September 30.
