In the week before Election Day, as this is being written, it is difficult to experience the spirit of either Thanksgiving or Christmas. When this appears in print the former day will be a memory and we shall be getting set for Christmas. What a world to be living in! One never knows what to expect on the morrow but we do know that there is a God above who watches and cares for us.
Scott Rogers passed his 85th milestone but not without having had some trying experiences. His wife had a long siege in the hospital followed by home care by a nurse, all due to a ruptured vein in her leg. Then Scotty had a collapsed lung, of short duration, however. He reports having talked with Jim Steen in Sun City on the latter's wedding anniversary and says that Jim is somewhat crippled, otherwise doing well. (I thought he had broken his arm as he never writes.) Sam Hobbs is now settled in his new home in San Diego and turning his attention again to his new job as class agent. The November Billboard was scheduled to give the final results of 1912's participation in the 1974 Alumni Fund campaign.
Arthur Forbush's widow Gabrielle has come to light with renewed interest in our class. All this was instigated by Joe Doe's last Billboard which contained a reference to "our well-loved ex-President" to which she (and probably many more) objected. Gabrielle is a graduate of Vassar 1912, a former newsletter editor and an accomplished writer. We welcome her back into our midst.
May the spirit of the Christ child make your Christmas a rewarding one and the New Year bring a renewed faith in the future of our country.
