The medical profession continues to dominate the publicity for 1927. The Cancer Society's Nov-Dec Journal contains a renewed debate between Dr. Thomas Anglem and Dr. George Crile on partial mastectomies.

And Bill King sends a clipping that Dr. Job'H. Munro's 43 years of dedicated medical service in the Newport-Lake Sunapee area will be memorialized when the obstetrics wing at Newport Hospital will be named in his honor. He retired February 1 and was made an honorary lifetime member of the staff. He served several terms as chief of staff. John, a Phi Bete, combined his senior year with his first year of med school and then finished up at Harvard School.

Stew Schackne has come up with the shocking idea that although we may be of retirement age, we aren't dead yet and ought to be able to contribute something worthwhile to the solution of our country's problems. A public relations expert "who spent many years with Standard Oil of New Jersey and whose book Oil for the World was translated into 11 languages, Stew believes that our times call for quality rather than quantity, whether it be the size of a corporation or of our college.

The gasoline shortage must bring pangs to Neils Fossum of Riverside, Conn., who spent most of his life in automobile sales, gasoline distributorships, and taxi cab companies in the Greenwich and Stamford area.

M. Frank Amann has retired as counsel for New York Life Insurance Co. but still lives in Garden City. Frank graduated from NYU, took his law degree from St. Johns and then returned to NYU for an MBA.

"Yes and No" says Dr. Charles A. Carroll about retirement. He has given up private practice tice of medicine, but is now medical director of the Ft. Collins, Colo., plant of Woodward Governer Co.

From Dunedin, Fla., comes word from Art Keleher that we omitted his name from the list of those who received football numerals. (He received track too). We all know he won his big D with the 1925 football team, but many of us didn't realize he went on to get his M.A. and Ph.D. from NYU and spent his career with the New York City School System, ending up as supervisor of Guidance and Placement when he retired.

Wendeli Lamson could have been in that Speakeasy picture of Erasmus H.S. grads of 50 years ago if he had attended our reunion last June. Instead he is enjoying retirement from Metropolitan Life's New York home office by living in Hollywood, Fla.

Glad to be alive despite the generally perilous state of the world and the U.S.A. in particular, says Wilfred E. Shaw of Woodcliff Lake, N.J. Wil retired a year ago from Bowne & Co. in New York. The company was established in 1775 and does stock market printing such as registration statements, prospectus, proxies, annual reports, etc. Wil is spending his time sailing, gardening and reading.

AL Pulsifer, Johnstown, N.Y., lawyer, had a cataract operation last August, but had recovered sufficiently to do part of the driving as he and his son-in-law made their annual trip to Hanover for the Cornell game. His wife Cecile, has promised to bring him to our next fall reunion.

"Bill" Howard Mackay says "Fifty Years Ago' brought back memories that at the William Jennings Bryan debate Bryan pulled out a silver dollar and suggested his opponent use it to get a haircut.

Roy Blanchard has been digging some 50 years ago material for us, and his unpublished comments are hilarious.

More bad news - Victor Reynolds died in Hanover December 22, and Van Wie Ingham in efw Brunswick, N.J., January 11. Herb Howe's Mife. Frances, died last October. We extend deepest sympathies to their families.

1927 Quintet of O'Hara, Cohen, Oliver, Capt. Picken, and Dey defeats Suffield 28 to 23.

construction of Thornton Hall discloses many pennies predating Civil War. Apparently there were penny Pitchers even in the early days.

Athletic Council awards 1927 Hockey numerals to V. J. Duplin Jr., H.B. Fryberger Jr. W.B Fryberger c. L. Hardy, C.E. Linenmeyr. T.N. O'Rourke, and H. Rubin.

-7 nominates 45 men for class officers. Elected were Robert C. Mix, president; Neal R. Dowe, vice president, W. B. Fryberger; secretary; and H.B. Cummings, treasurer (He still is).

N.J. Zaro, G. P. Corliss, and W. Bright accompany Musical Clubs on spring tour.

1927 faces undefeated Andover in track. The team included Ketz, Fuqua, McCall, Pepper, Clokey, Rose, Woelfel, Cummings, Fox, Hession, Martin, Mullins and Dalrymple.

George Champion '26 meets J.W. Sturdevant '27 in handball finals.
