A large and impressive memorial service was held in New York January 6 for our late class agent Sam Wormser. Rog Bury, on behalf of the Class, gave a beautiful personal tribute. Cliff Jordon, representing the College, brought a memorial citation written by Mike McGean, Secretary of the College, which was read. Eighteen classmates, many accompanied by their wives, were present. The group was headed by President Ken Murray and included Ken Ballantyne, Hank Bayles, Seth Besse, Dud Bonsal Rog Bury, Tom Gillespie, Syd Harris, Ding Heap, Orie Herwitz, Hank Murray, Paul O'Connell, Jon Rintels, Joe Russakoff, Brad Stone, Frank Strong, Sid Voice, and Al Welty. The rest of us were present in spirit to honor the memory of this devoted son of Dartmouth.

Ros Guyot helped Ed Ripley sail a dieselpower boat back after the Los Angeles-to-Magatlan yacht race. Last summer the Ripleys toured France and revisited many of the places Ed haunted during those ten months of leave he took junior year.

The only classmates Sam Martin has seen in Portland, Ore., recently were the Gordon Smiths, who were there last summer for some deep-sea fishing off the mouth of the Columbia River, and Fred Fellingham, who was in town on business. The Martins expect to be in Hanover for our 50th in June.

Al Lawrence says he is tired of classmates claiming to have so many grandchildren with 14 or 15 when he has 19 and his first great-granddaughter was born in May 1975. How many other classmates have grandmothers for daughters?

"You can count on my joining the hardy gang of '27ers next June," writes Merritt Joslyn. Last summer he and his wife enjoyed a European trip, which included playing golf on many famous courses. At St. Andrews, when his putt went three feet beyond the cup, the Scotch caddy remarked, "You have gut a little golfing to do." For those interested, he reports Mount Everest is booked solid with climbing party dates until 1982.

Being in the retail department store business all his working days has prevented Reg Horton from attending very many class affairs in Hanover. "But," he says, "the 50th is something else, and I plan to be on tap." Most of us never knew that Reg entered college after service in the Canadian Army in World War I.

Treasurer Gus Cummings received all kinds of comments with dues remittances. Gordon Hope wrote, "Enclosed is the $15. Also $5 which I may owe from last go-round. The extra $1 is down payment for next year's possible foul-up, plus interest and mental anguish. Gus, you've done a great job for many years and we ap- preciate it." Hopie says his only claim to fame is water-skiing at 71 (looking forward to 91).

Plan now on being in Hanover June 10-12 for our 50th.
