When the James Vail Medical Sciences Building is dedicated in Hanover May 7, it will be pretty much a Class of 1920 affair. It is, of course, named after the late James D. Vail Jr.'20, and the building was made possible by a gift from his widow and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Foster G. McGaw of Evanston, Ill.
The auditorium and teaching laboratory in the building are named after their donors, Mr. and Mrs. James C. Chilcott '20 of New Vernon, N.J. And just to make it unanimous, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin N. Corbin '20 are the parents of Peggy Vail, wife of Jim Vail '50.
The new five-story building doubles the size of the Dartmouth Medical School and thus facilitates the Trustees' decision to return to the. issuance of the M.D. degree, the first to be granted since 1914. All members of '20 are invited to attend the
dedication ceremonies at the new building between 3 and 4 p.m., May 7. The principle address will be given by Dr. John A. D. Cooper, president of the American Association of Medical Schools, and a reception and tours of the building will follow.
Alumni records show that there are at least 26 members of '20 living in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
The new James Vail Medical Sciences Building, to be dedicated in Hanover on May 7,will be decorated with a roster of names from the Class of 1920.
