When Charles H. Hood '51 of Brookline, Massachusetts, recently elected chairman of the Alumni Fund for 1975-76, seeks advice on the complexities of that lofty and demanding position, he will be the first to be able to turn to his father for the benefit of his experience.
Hood is the son of Harvey P. Hood '18, former chairman of the Board of Trustees, who in 1941 and '42 set College records by raising each year more than $196,000 from about 15,000 alumni.
Charles Hood, too, is aiming for a record year, though the dollar amount of the goal has changed drastically with the change in the value of the currency, in the needs of the College, and in the size of the alumni body. The goal for the 1975 Fund has been set at $4 million by the Alumni Council, which elected Hood to the chairmanship for the next two years.
Charles Hood, treasurer of H.P. Hood, Inc., earned an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School after his graduation and spent three years in the Navy before joining the family firm.
