We had an outstanding Class Officers' meeting in Hanover the first weekend in May. It was held in conjunction with the College's Annual Program for all class officers. Fred Stephens ably kept our day long meeting on track and on schedule. Dick Joslin discussed the efforts being made by him and 114 assistant agents for this year's Alumni Fund. Don Smith unveiled-all the details for a great fall social schedule. More on that later. Jack Newton, Paul Paganucci, Ted Spiegel, and I were also on hand. Biggest part of the meeting was discussing plans for our 25th Reunion in 1978. Fred England is aiming for another record turnout. (You know that we hold the College record for each of the Reunions we've had so far.) Ann Newton, Thelma Stephens", and Valerie England provided many helpful comments during the meeting. And Marilyn Paganucci provided some much-needed cocktails afterward. We also ran into Rex Schirmer with his family and Boband Susan Nessen and their family who happened to be in Hanover for the weekend.
Mary and Dick Stanley were delighted when their son Cliff was accepted on early decision for the Class of 1980. I believe Charlie Buchanan's son Michael was also. We will have a complete list in the newsletter.

Last October, Tom Croft quit his job as an adjunct professor at Stanford University after working there for 17 years. He is now a staff scientist at the Stanford Research Institute which is nearby but not affiliated. He's still a consulting professor at the University and has a grad student finishing his Ph.D. there, but the arrangement is non-paying and temporary. Tom and Rachel enjoy telling how they met in the deferred tuition line at Stanford a dozen years ago when prices weren't so sky-high. They have three great kids, boys ten and nine, and a girl, seven.

Colonel Mike Duffy continues as chief of the Department of Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He worries about 150 other surgeons and the $1.7 million budget. However, he only has two years left at which point he is looking forward to retiring and getting down to work. Caroline, Sean, Erin, Patrick, and Michael Jr. all miss New England.
Al and Patty Ives bought a Cessna Skyhawk. They enjoy flying and taking their two younger sons with them. Al is still with Southern New England telephone company. He just finished a ten-month assignment with AT&T which involved a lot of traveling. Their oldest son Alan Jr. is a pre-med student at the University of Vermont in his sophomore year. Patty is teaching third grade and completing work on her Master's thesis.
Dave Replogle has been commuting to Boston a few days a week for the past six years. He finally joined Houghton-Mifflin last fall and the family moved to Cohasset, Mass. Two of their five sons are at college. When not working on the American Heritage Dictionary, Dave has been busy publishing our Class Directory.
Dan Ernst is still located in Dubuque, lowa, pursuing the practice of law. It appears that he shall have to pursue it with more vigor since he now has daughter Ellen at Mount Holyoke and a son Dan at Dartmouth and his wife Ann, Vassar '55, is returning to the classroom to complete her Ph.D. in school psychology. Another daughter Ruth Ann is in the seventh grade and coming on strong.
As we head off into the summer recess from writing, please look ahead to the fall. We are planning a big get-together in Hanover October 15-16 in conjunction with the Harvard game. There will be a class meeting in the morning. A cocktail party after the game for friends and sons and daughters of '53 at Hanover and a big banquet in the evening at the Norwich Inn. Have a good summer!
