Every spring there are a lot of reasons for returning to the Hanover Plain. Freshman Patents Weekend in April brought a crowd of 45 to the '53 cocktail party and dinner hosted by Dick and Vivian Cahn. In May, we had 100 per cent attendance at Class Officers Weekend. And at June graduation, Jack and Charlotte Avril planned to put on class cocktail party for a cast of hundreds.

Class Officers Weekend must have been very important, as the College arranged to shut of the rain for the first weekend in the East in two months. It was beautiful. It was spring. The opening Friday evening program consisted of cocktails, dinner, and speeches. There was also a lot of late caucusing in the Inn tavern. Saturday'morning, during the general session, we heard in-depth reports on the change of ALUMNI MAGAZINE editors, a review of coeducation at the College on its tenth anniversary, the pending changes in the Dartmouth Plan, and the proposed clustering of dormitories. Then special sessions were held for all the presidents, all the secretaries, and each of the other different officer groups. A wind-up luncheon featured a great talk by Dave McLaughlin and then the class awards. Having won all the honors too many times, we are now relegated to perpetual honorable mention.

Saturday afternoon, Bob Simpson held a class meeting attended by Bernie Sudikoff, Fred Carleton, Fred England, Ron Lazar, Don Smith, Paul Paganucci, Jack Newton, Don Goss, and me. The full minutes will be in " '53 Out," but you might be interested in some of the highlights: Ron and 147 class agents are working hard to make our Alumni Fund goal (you can help, too). Bernie has had a reunion committee meeting already; they are really organized and planning a super 30th onjune 11- 14, 1984. Don has another fantastic mini-re- union program set for the summer and fall And the class book project, A RecreationalGuiitto the Dartmouth Area, is finally at the printer.

It was a long day with a fine ending at Don and Lillian Goss's Hanover home for cocktails

Ron and Lillian Lazar were thrilled to learn that their daughter, Sharon '83, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for a year at Nantes France. Jack Newton absolutely radiates as hE talks about Apollo Computer Inc., where he is the new chief financial officer. They designmanufacture, market, and service computer systems primarily used in engineering, scientific, and other technical applications. Consult your broker for further information.

We sure hope to see as many of you as possible on Nantucket on August 12-14 with nd Al Collins. The big dates next fall are October 15 in Cambridge and October 22 in Hanover against Cornell. Have a great summer!
