'53 OUT for a family affair! We are seven months away from our 25th reunion in Hanover, June 15, 16, 17, 18, 1978. Plan now for you and the entire family to come.

Phil Beekman writes that he, Nancy, and the whole family are looking forward to coming back next June to what is shaping up to be the best reunion the College has ever seen. That will probably mark the first days of vacation, or at least time off, that Phil has taken since last February when he joined Seagram's. He says the work is more interesting and provides a relaxation that he has grown accustomed to call vacation. The job is every bit as exciting, challenging, and interesting as he was led to believe, and thought it would be, when he left Colgate after 24 years.

Dave Godschalk continues as a professor in the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of North Carolina. He is taking a year's leave of absence to join The Southern Growth Policies Board staff as a visiting scholar. This is an interstate agency concerned with the stability and quality of growth in the South. He will help develop longer-range objectives for the Legislative Caucus and produce specific products for the Board. Dave has engaged in extensive research activities in the field of growth.

Peter Bridges has been in the State Department executive secretariat for over a year. In May, he was loaned to the Treasury Department where he became executive secretary. He will return to Foreign Service and probably go abroad again in a couple of years. Meanwhile, Mary Jane is working at Time-Life Books; David '79 is about to spend a term at the University of Bucharest; Elizabeth is entering McGill; Mary has won another high school letter in crew; and Andrew is heading into second grade and his third soccer season.

Since 1973, Tom Croft has been working in preparation for the launches of our interplanetary space craft, the two Voyagers to Jupiter and Saturn and the two Pioneers to Venus. The Voyagers are off and the Pioneers are going fairly soon. Tom's role is that of a radio scientist. He is one among a team of six people who are designated to study the character of the radio signals to and from the space craft to glean scientific information from analysis of the environmental affects of the signals during their travel. For example, they can determine temperature versus altitude in a planetary atmosphere by studying the variation of the radio frequency as the space craft go behind a planet. Tom has the honor of being the only person on both the Voyager and the Pioneer teams.

Bob Henderson, president and chief executive officer of Itek Corp., was elected a director of Keyes Fiber Co. They make molded wood pulp and foam plastic products for the packaging and service of foods.

Bill and Jo Borman joined Phil and HelgaFast at a recent Dartmouth Pacific Northwest Alumni Seminar at Coeur D'Alene, Idaho.

Tom Bagg ran into Bob Foster out on Block Island this summer. Bob was hopeful that his kids were straightening out, happy in his work, and regretful about the weather. Tom says he's in terrific shape.

Denny and Yvonne Speidel are now in Brussels with their daughter. The boys remain at Dartmouth. Denny is still with IBM but now responsible for their activities from Stravanger, Norway, to Tel Aviv, Israel, with 12 other countries and 500 people in between.

That's it for this month.
