SIXTIETH REUNION

Under fair skies we celebrated our 60th reunion. Twenty-three classmates were present, and, with our widows, sons, and daughters, we made up a party of about 50. We went along at a casual pace (as befits our age) and had a thoroughly good time.

The classmates present were D. P. Cole, De Mond, Fiske, Googins, Greeley, Hinds, Ora Huntoon, Max Huntoon, Lewis, Lovejoy, McCrillis, Martin, Merrill, Moxon, Norton, Rayner, Robinson, Sandoe, Treat, Wallis, Welsh, Williams, and Avery. Most were accompanied by their wives. Bud Welsh had his son with him. John Fornacca's daughter and son-in-law were present. Kitty Larmon represented the widows.

The first official event was the cocktail hour and buffet dinner on Friday night. Afterwards some attended the outdoor party at President Kemeny's home, and later some went to the Glee Club concert. Others skipped these events and went to bed early.

On Saturday morning we had a very interesting class meeting. The nominating committee seemed satisfied with the job the present officers were doing and recommended that all be retained. This was done. Treasurer ChesterDeMond reported that class finances were in good shape. Nock Wallis reported that the Alumni Fund was coming along fine. JiggerMerrill asked for more letters for the "Smoke Signal." John McCrillis reported on the capital gifts campaign and estate planning. JohnWilliams announced that the fall reunion would be at the time of the Princeton game. The reunion days are September 21 and 22. You are asked to make your own reservations at the Inn.

Following the class meeting there was a very impressive memorial service in Rollins Chapel. The service was conducted by the Reverend Fred Berthold '45, and the organist was Beverly Gaylord.

After the service, the class's photograph was taken. This was followed by a luncheon and the annual meeting of the Alumni Association. The principal speakers at this meeting were President Emeritus John Dickey '29 and President Kemeny.

On Saturday we had our class dinner, presided over by President Nichol Sandoe in his usual capable manner. Your class secretary reminisced about some of the members of the class. San Treat had given the class one of his paintings, which was raffled off for the benefit of the Alumni Fund. Al Googins won the painting.

On Sunday, we marched in the parade of the alumni. Nine of the twelve living members of the class of 1909 were on hand, and they led the parade.

The final event was a cocktail party at Kitty Larmon's. Practically everyone stayed on for this delightful affair. At its conclusion, most started for home - tired but glad they had come.

Bearing the standard of their class, these stalwart members of 1919 pose for a group portrait to commemorate their 60th reunion.
