This past fall Jerry Zaks, who is acting and directing in New York, played the lead role in Igor Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat in a Dartmouth Players' production at Hopkins Center.
Jeff Zimmerman sent along some information received with class dues. Jeff is working on his thesis on Soviet natural gas development for an M.A. in Russian area studies (economics) at Georgetown. He is still with the Marine Corps, stationed in Washington. D.C., and at President Carter’s inauguration he served as military aide to Governor Snelling of Vermont. Now for the news of those who took the time to write.
James Gifford is a logistics support analyst on the F-18 fighter aircraft project for the Northrop Corporation in Hawthorne, Calif.
Hal Maskiell is working in financial services sales for Investors Diversified Services, Inc. on Cape Cod. Mexico City is home base for Chuck Farnum. He is the Mexican sales representative for Caterpillar Americas Company. Any ’67 who happens to be in Mexico City is invited to drop in for refreshments.
Jim Shaw has recently joined a prepaid health plan with a group of family practice physicians in Spokane, Wash. According to his wife Sue, all he needs now is some time off to catch the trout in the river outside their new home.
Benjamin Mixter is managing the Edgartown Yacht Club and lives year round on Martha’s Vineyard. Jon Feltner is out of the Marines and is now a student at Boston University Law School and a member of the B.U. Law Review.
Arlyn Powell is also in the Boston area. He is director of publications for the Appalachian Mountain Club with responsibility for three magazines and two dozen trail guides and maps. In his free time he is a free-lance writer/photographer.
A long letter from Andy Barrie let us know that he is alive and well and living in Canada. For seven years he worked for radio station CJAD in Montreal and hosted the top-rated mid-morning show, mixing up a blend of music, editorial writing, humor, and interviews. He once interviewed John Sloan Dickey ’29. This past summer Andy, his wife Mary, and their daughter Jessie moved to Toronto so Mary could attend graduate school in education at the University of Toronto. Andy will be working for station CFRB in various capacities. He wrote, “. . . one of the largest thrills of recent years was dropping up to WDCR and finding out, not only did my CJAD signal reach Hanover during rare moments of good weather, but two staffers there had listened . . . and knew who I was. . , ” Happy Holidays to all!
