David T. McLaughlin '54, an Alumni Trustee of the College since 1971, was elected chairman of the Board at the January meeting of the Trustees. He will succeed F. William Andres '29, chairman since 1972, when Andres retires immediately following Commencement in June.
President and chief operating officer of Toro Company in Bloomington, Minnesota, McLaughlin went on to earn an M.B.A. from the Tuck School after graduating Phi Beta Kappa and winning the Barrett Cup as outstanding senior. During his third varsity football season, he also established a college record of yards gained by a pass receiver in a single season, a record surpassed only last fall.
Also in January, Robert D. Kilmarx '50 and William H. Morton '32 were reelected by the Board to second terms, to commence in June, as Charter Trustees.
At its December meeting the Alumni Council nominated Ralph Lazarus '35 of Cincinnati, Ohio, for a second term as Alumni Trustee to serve until Commencement 1982. Lazarus currently is on the executive committee of the Board of Trustees and is chairman of the budget committee.
The rules governing this nomination are the same as those set forth in the December issue concerning the nomination of George B. Munroe '43.
