"Anybody here seen my old friend (Hank)? Can you tell me where he's gone... You just turn around and he's gone." Along with Hank Amon went Debbie, Lindsay, and Sally - to London this time, not Brussels, but still with White and Case. It doesn't sound permanent because both the Connecticut arid the Vermont houses have been rented not sold; but three years would be a good guess. Peter Wolfe also has become an islander (fog-bound London type) in the past year, along with Jane and their four. With Citibank he is head of operations for the U.K., Ireland, Scandinavian region. Also in England as a result of an off-season trade with the Royal Navy is Cmdr. Kris Greene, M.D., USN Medical Corps. In case you've ever wondered how to take aspirin at six leagues, you can now ask Kris since he is at the Institute of Naval Medicine dealing in the area of un- derwater medicine. Both of his children are attending British schools and have picked up accents. Before this trio of '65s returns stateside, someone should warn them that the current administration would look askance at any trace of insufferably condescending, stiff-upper-lipped proper speech.

As a Class we received an eat-your-hearts-out letter written by Murray Sullivan from Belgium - most likely Brussels. Said letter is more suitable for our class newsletter, but at this time we can say that Murray-has traveled extensively as a U.S. Army medic in Europe and should be getting out in time to resume his old job of tobaggan-pulling (ski patrol) at Aspen this winter. Bill Stanton honorably deserted the same man's army last July and is now "practicing" general surgery in Long Beach, Calif. How I wish there were a more assuring way of saying how one goes about being a surgeon. When I practice anything it is because the skill is needed, not in hand. Bill's two children are listed as Class of '93 and Class of '95. I think that means they are between three and ten years old. Russ Rothrock is also out there practicing in this case neurosurgery in Bowling Green, Ky. Russ is the only neurosurgeon in town, so we can only assume that he must practice against a backboard. Steve LeSauvage writes from the rolling hills of Tyler, Tex., that he has logged enough time to solo in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Bill Park, however, is in a group to practice orthopedic surgery in Mobile. Perhaps the Air Force experience ingrained in him the spirit of the Big Team.

George Goldberg has also put his military time in as a Navy neurologist in Portsmouth, Va. Now he is practicing neurology in private out in Phoenix, Ariz.

An old mountain climber from way back just climbed out of the crevasse of med school and into view again. Bill Van de Graaff left base camp and is assaulting the summit via an internal internship at Cleveland Veterans', University, and Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospitals. Next year he scales the piton-choked south face of University Hospital with a fellowship in clinical pharmacology. Standing by in case of any frayed-rope mishaps is Richard Davey, a hematologist at the Bethesda, Md. (for Maryland), NIH Blood Bank.

Just to show that all that practice doesn't mean much, consider George Martin. Here is a man who finished Dartmouth, went on to graduate school, got his CPA, practiced like a bear for years until he mastered all the fine points of accounting and then... zingo... returned to the University of Michigan as a freshman law student.

Your diagnoses of this column are accurate. It's been a long, cold winter and spring, I hear, is still six weeks away. Have you seen any bumper stickers this year saying, "Think Snow"? Burn 'em!
