One of the rewards to this writer for acting as a class agent is the occasional cache of news uncovered during the solicitation process. A call to Carter White developed the information that he and his wife Carol are associated with a small silk-screening firm in Williamstown, Mass., called Alliance Editions. The firm was created out of an assignment given students of a Williams College art class. The students put some esoteric designs on T-shirts, showed their creations to some New York buyers, and theidea caught on like wildfire.

Carter, the vice president of the firm that now markets from Bermuda to Saipan, gave Up a position with a New York investment firm to move his family to western Massachusetts and this opportunity. All the items (tote bags and skirts as well as T-shirts) are hand done and shouldn't be confused with the cheap imitations so prevalent today. The Alliance T-shirt sells for $16-$20.

The Whites have a son who is a senior at Hampshire College, a daughter who is a junior at the University of Massachusetts, and another daughter in high school. By the way, in addition to all the news we obtained, Carter continued his generous support of the Alumni Fund.

A clipping from Burlington, Mass., reveals that Roy Nyren is the new pastor of The United Church of Christ Congregational in that Boston suburb. This is the fifth parish in which Roy has served. He has most recently served at the Euclid Ave. Congregational Church in Cleveland, Ohio.

Roy's wife Nancy is a librarian and teacher. They have three children: Becky, a sophomore at Dartmouth; David, a high school junior; and Kevin, in the eighth grade.

Jim Cavanaugh, another man of the cloth, writes that he has become the pastor of the Groton Community Church (United Church of Christ) in Groton, N.Y.

Jim's wife Pat has received her master of arts degree in marriage and family counseling from Syracuse University and is currently employed by the Susquehanna Association as a family therapist and consultant.

"Woody" Goss was recently elected senior vice president of the Arlington Trust Company, a $433 million bank. He has joined the business development department and is concentrating on assignments dealing with the financial needs of national companies within the bank's marketing area. He and his wife Nancy and their three sons still reside in Worcester.

Al Schwartz is a member of the medical advisory board of the Massachusetts Multiple Sclerosis Society and is the founder and director of the National Multiple Sclerosis Clinic of the North Shore. He is a practicing neurologist at Beverly Hospital and serves as a consultant in neurology at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Boston and several North Shore suburban hospitals.

Al received his M.D. from Tufts University and completed residencies in medicine at Hartford Hospital and in neurology at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, New England Center Hospital, and Boston City Hospital.

On a sadder note, Don Charbonnier writes that his wife Stephanie died in a pool accident last June at their home in Essex, Conn. She was Smith '57 and she and Don had been living in Essex for 15 years. They have two children: Jennifer, 18, who entered Skidmore this fall, and Peter, who is at Kent where he has coxed Hart Perry's varsity boat for two years. Don is with Merrill Lynch in Hartford and his home address is 10 Book Hill Road, Essex, Conn.

Don would welcome notes from all who knew "Stess." The Class offers its deepest sympathy to Don and the children.

Finally, we have received news that Larry Veator has been elected a vice president of W. R. Grace & Co. He will continue as president of the Pacific division of Grace's Industrial Chemicals Group.

That's it for this month. Cooperate. . . . Communicate.
