The leaves turn, a snap is felt in the air, and I catch myself dodging telephone poles with a loaf of bread under my arm on the way home from the corner store. Yes, fall is here; and all of us feel" the touch of nostalgia that September and football weekends create. By the time this article is to press, the Dartmouth Team will have played three games in league competition - two of these against contenders for the Ivy League Title, Princeton and Harvard. — We all wish the Big Green Luck!
After the vacations ... meetings commence "with a flourish." The Class officials met at an informal meeting a couple of weeks ago in quest of our class project. In attendance were A1 Reich, Charlie Curtis, Ed Finnerty, John Barto, Jay Schocket, and yours truly. A formal meeting is scheduled for the morning of the Harvard game.
Much of the news that was made by our classmates throughout the spring and summer is now filtering into my office at Old Ironsides, and it certainly makes a guy feel proud of the accomplishments of his classmates. The one rewarding factor of a job such as Class Secretary is to get the news via the College and relatively "hot off the press."

From our Capital City, Washington, D. C., we learn that a governmental department program receives new status. The Urban and Regional Planning Program at the George Washington University has been given new status under the GW School of Government and Business Administration. Our own Professor Dorn McGrath will be the new department's chairman. Currently, Dorn is director of the Division of Metropolitan Area Analysis in the Department of Housing and Urban Development of the federal government.
In addition to offering a core curriculum of planning courses and studio work, the new GW Program will draw upon the resources of the University's course offerings in Government, Public Administration, and Political Science, as well as those in Sociology, Geography, and Law. The two-year program in Dorn's new department will lead to a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, and is aimed at preparing students for planning at federal, state, metropolitan and local government levels and for private practice. I'm sure all of us throughout the country will be benefitting in the future from Dorn's efforts and the knowledge of his students.

Great news from overseas and Al Fiertz! Al has been named managing director of the Northern Europe area for Booz, Allen and Hamilton. Al - will be based in Dusseldorf and cover Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for the next three years. This past summer, Al and Beverly have hosted Pete and Debbie Taylor in Klosters, Switzerland and Paul and Gail Sanderson and family on the way over to the new assignment. Some guys have it made!!
By the way, Al reports that Sandy and his fine family were last seen heading for the hills of Ireland on a ferry boat in quest of exchange students for his beloved Suffield Academy. According to Al, the Sandersons will reappear at the Academy in one year after touring the continent. I wonder if the exchange students will carry soccer equipment to the States?
