Here's the plot:

You take that class-dues notice that Lou sent you, and you look up at the top. It says "Please make check payable to Dartmouth 1941," and it says "$15.00." So the first thing you do is, you write a 15-dollar check to Dartmouth 1941.

Now look down at the bottom. There, among other things, it says "Class or family news needed." So the second thing you do is, you turn the notice over and write something. Something like what you are, were, or will be doing. Or the same for members of the immediate family. Or for anybody in the Class of '41.

Finally, you put the whole business in the handy-dandy return envelope, making sure that the address shows through the window, affix a stamp, and drop the result in a mailbox.

The Class of '41 lives off the checks. This column lives off what you write on the notices. And please, don't be overawed by that word news. The most recent ready-reference file on '41 is the 25th reunion yearbook that Red O'Connor put out, with some help from his friends, way back then. Anything that will confirm or correct what you told Red in 1965 qualifies as news.

Meanwhile, here's what the in-box holds:

Modern Office Procedures magazine tells us that "the office of Warner B. Bishop, chairman and president of Transohio Financial Corporation, can be described in two words: a winner. The office was selected from dozens of finalists in [our] Executive Office Design Competition." The words and pictures prove that Warner'does indeed have a lovely room to work in. On the personal side, all I can glean is that he and his wife collect Selby prints, that he's an avid photographer, and that he's been with Transohio, largest savings and loan holding company outside California, and its predecessor company since 1963.

The new president of the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee Region Association is Frank Simpson. His Dexter's Inn in Sunapee was, as usual, the site of a '41 mini-reunion last month - Yalegame weekend.

Some months ago I reported that DeanPaterson had moved to Hawaii. Here's more detail, courtesy the alumni notes in a recent issue of Tuck Today: "Now retired and living at Sea Mountain in Punalu'u, Dean helps with a condominium rental program, is active in amateur radio, and enjoys fishing, tennis and Hawaiiana."

In August, Bill English was elected a member of the Institute of Management Consultants and certified as a CMC — Certified Management Consultant. The press release announcing this event lists all the services Bill's firm provides but neglects to say where he operates. I presume he works out of Naugatuck, Conn., since that's where he lives. Used to be with U.S. Rubber there.

And so to the change-of-address collection. It has yielded a few false alarms lately. A card for recently-retired General Bob Dixon, for instance, put him right here in Falls Church, but when I tried to call, the phone company said he had moved on to New York, somewhere around Hempstead, L.1., judging by the area code. Last spring changes for Ed Tanzi were coming in from Florida faster than I could get them in the magazine, but the latest has him right back on River Rd., Lyme, N.H., so apparently Ed was just spending the winter browsing around the Sunshine State. And pending further advice, I'd be cautious about this one alleging that Dusty Rodes has deserted Key Biscayne for P.O. Box 1141, Frankfort, Mich. 49635 - it may be temporary.

George Thompson, late of Norwalk, has joined the back-to-New Hampshire movement and is now reachable at RR #2, MacDowell Rd., Peterborough, N.H. 03548.

Maurice A. Warner Jr. has left the insurance business in Minneapolis and betaken himself to Arrowhead Trail #86, Bozeman, Mont. 59715. There should be a story behind that one, and if Bo will cut me in on it, I'll report.

Bruce Muir has a new street address - 1130 Delaware - in Kissimmee, Fla. Other shorthaul movers include Henry Hillard, to 22 9th Ave., Sea Cliff, N.Y. 11579 (he even keeps the same phone number); Jim Costello, to 37-1 Tamaron Dr., Waldwick, N.J. 07463; and Hans Froehlich, to Apt 68-A, 99 Green Grove Ave., Keyport, N.J. 07735.

Ray Seabury didn't go very far, either - from Longmeadow, Mass., to 221 Main St., Wilbraham, Mass. 01095.
