Mrs. John R. Haug (Jess Wilson's daughter), 1 Mechanic Street, Marblehead, Mass., drove to Norwich to attend the memorial service for our beloved classmate Larry Bankart. She gave a wonderful report of the fine tribute paid Larry. She was the only representative of 1910. She mentioned the names of many friends who attended, particularly the large Bankart family. Pineo Jackson sent me a copy of Larry Bankart's obituary from the Hanover press, received from Larry Leavitt '25. Pineo's note "We're going down the valley, one by one."

Karen and I feel fortunate to possess one of Larry's beautiful Vermont landscape paintings of a view from the Bankart farm home in Norwich, looking toward the Connecticut River valley.

Herb Wolff reports that during the last few months the College has received over $750,000 aggregate from the estates of Ted Hill, RaySeymour, and Ed Keith.

I sent John Kemeny our 1910 class greetings on Dartmouth Night, October 13.

Leo Sherman passed away in his sleep October 4 at his home in Grinnell, lowa. I talked to Leo on the phone not long ago, and he was cheerful and grateful for his fine family and long life. His wife Bertha survives him. They were married in 1911. So they had a long life together.

Karen was selected as one of 25 volunteers in the city schools of Minneapolis to be honored at the annual meeting on October 12. She was presented with a plaque for having shown natural history pictures to 145 classes.

On October 15 we were presented with a great-grandson born to John and Nancy Peyton here in Minneapolis, named Benjamin John Peyton.

On October 21 we attended the Dartmouth Northwest Alumni dinner, at which President Kemeny was our honored guest and speaker. John was in good form and gave us a very interesting report on various activities at the College.

Karen and I leave for Florida for the winter on November 8.
