As this is being written, March is coming in like a lamb — at least on Cape Cod. Let's hope it continues thus and that the golf courses, now covered , with snow, will once again be green. Now to the news.

Larry Hewes has spent the past year in Santa Barbara, Calif., as an associate at the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions. He has taken part in dialogues and in writing papers on public administration, and he is completing the final chapters of a book. He has also served on a committee, appointed by Governor Brown, on small farmer development, which has involved many meetings in San Francisco and Sacramento. He returned to Washington in November.

Vaughan Berry, writing from Waynesville, N.C., tells of plans to spend Christmas with his daughter in Milwaukee. ,

Bob Hall had a most enjoyable visit with NedMansure, who came East for a meeting of the Value Line. Bob has had heart problems but is improved and able to take part in his usual activities.

Bob Hayes reports that he is comfortable and active following the installation of a pacemaker and, we assume, now enjoying the warmth of Siesta Key.

The Jack Parkers have recently visited HobeyHolbrook in Santa Barbara.

Mike Branch is now retired as chairman of the board of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association. We congratulate the Branches on celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in December 1977.

Spec Ramsdell writes from Nantucket Island, where he heads up the Harbor Civic Association (which he founded), that he is still a Trustee of the Nantucket Civic League, head of the Thomas Turner Chapter of the Society of the American Revolution, and on the board of managers of the same society.

Chinee Allen recently received a citation from the Educational Testing Service in honor of his many years of service in administering standardized admission tests used in colleges and graduate schools. Chinee has been involved in this activity since 1932, longer than any other supervisor. There are 8,000 supervisors whose job is to make sure that exams are offered in accordance with established procedures. He currently supervises the College Board's Admission Testing Program, the Graduate Record Examination, the Graduate Management Admission Test, the Law School Admission Test, and the test of English as a foreign language. Chinee is an American Psychological Association Fellow in industrial and clinical psychology. Although this job keeps him busy ten months of the year, he finds time to devote to his stamp collecting and to writing two columns for a monthly stamp collectors' magazine.

Joe Burleigh, following surgery and a long hospital stay, is now at home.

Don Bartlett was a participant in the memorial service for Allen Foley, which was held in the Norwich Congregational Church on February 20.

Jimmie Reid sends a report from Carefree, covering news of the Arizona delegation. The Reids recently had a visit from the Doug Craigs and the Van Huycks. Also, plans are underway for a luncheon in Tucson, under the direction of Harry Holmlund. The Reids expect to return East by ship -through the Panama Canal.

We regret to record the death of Fred Diehl on January 12 in Evanston, Ill.
