Having just returned from Class Officers Weekend, your secretary can report that all is well in Hanover. The meetings were as interesting and informative as usual and the sociability most enjoyable. Included in the closing program was the opportunity to hear remarks by the president-elect for the first time. The class was represented by Don Wilbur, PeteWheatley, Dave Dyche, Earl Daum, Stan Chittick, and Dana Bent, accompanied by their wives and Beatie Adams, a gracious addition to any class gathering. And to prove that there is still life in the class of 1924, Stan Chittick was cited as class treasurer of the year. The class, already proud of the excellent job Stan has done for many years, should be even prouder to hear of this honor.

While at breakfast in Alumni Hall, the 1924 group was joined by Line Spaulding '56, Spud's son. We learned from him that Steve Gulick '81, the son of Sue Spaulding Gulick, will graduate in June.

An exhibit of Stu Eldredge's paintings will be shown starting July 8 for a month at the Springfield, Vt., Arts and Historical Society.

Previous to their arrival in Hanover, the Wilburs enjoyed a leisurely tour of Vermont.

From Beatie Adams, we learn that Mary Higley's grandson Timothy will enter Dartmouth in the fall, having received notice of early acceptance. His father, John, was in the class of 1951.

Ed Winsor is still actively practicing law in Providence, and Walt Emerson reports from Manchester that he has had three hip operations since retirement as an editor of the Manchester Union Leader.

About the time this is published, the Aliens expect to be in Bermuda, and somewhat belatedly we learn that the Buchanans sailed through the Panama Canal in December.

Larry Treat, dean of the writers of mystery novels, reports that he expects to publish a new book in the fall, adding another to the many he has published over the years.

The present vogue of "collecting" takes many different forms. We think Frank Tonis' hobby is a new one. Frank collects autographed cartoons of prominent people cartoons usually not favorable to their subjects. His quest has been very successful as regards many people, including Speaker O'Neill, but not as regards a recent aspirant for the Democratic presidential nomination. From him he received an un-autographed photograph.

Have a good summer. We will be with you again in the October issue.
