Our "Last Hurrah"/"Fantastic Fiftieth" is over and also the post-50th reunion immediately following at the Lake Morey Inn. Publishing deadlines being what they are, this column is being written five weeks before that much-heralded reunion. It is safe to assume it will have been a glorious moment in the life of the Class of 1928.

The class officers and reunion committee met April 27-29 at the Hanover Inn and completed all the details. Everyone will be busy from the start until we lead the Commencement parade Sunday morning, June 11.

Reunion Chair Bill Morton and President Jack Kenerson presided at the joint meetings attended by reunion program co-chairs CurlyProsser and Herb Sensenig, John Phillips,Craig Haines, your secretary, Bill Lary, DickSchmelzer, Curly and Laura Sadler, and GeorgeDavis, the 50-Year Speaker at the annual meeting of the Association of Alumni.

The Class of 1928 directory will come off the press in time for reunion, but as is inevitable, we have already received two changes of address: Henry Curll, 1361 Ferry Road, Grants Pass, Ore., and Wally Countryman, 3263 Kimball Road, Rockford, 111.

We are sorry to report the deaths of CurtWilson on December 14, Philo Grimes on March 30, Dick Beshlin on April 5, and DaveMenard on April 9. Dave had mailed his reunion fee in on March 20 and looked forward eagerly to attending with his wife Tana.

The late Bill Whaley's widow Ann died of a heart attack in March while on a cruise of the Greek islands.

A collection of books on birds, trees, flowers, and streams of the north country region has been given to the Norwich Public Library as a memorial to the late Bill Breyfogle. A Rhodes Scholar, Bill at the time of his death in 1958 had lived in Norwich with his wife Betty. He wrote several books and other publications in the field of natural history. Betty retired from the staff of Baker Library last October and moved to Victoria, British Columbia, to join her sister.

The Breyfogle collection is the gift of a number of Bill's friends, led by LeRoy Dreher '27. In making the announcement of this gift, the president of the Norwich Library stated, "We hope that this collection offers a model that a small local library should have in this field."

Congratulations to Shep and Helen Shepard of Lakewood, Colo., on their golden wedding anniversary on December 31 and to Harry andArleen Philbrick of South Yarmouth, Mass., on theirs on September 3. We apologize for the delay in recording such happy events.

Ernie Wright of Boca Raton, Fla., had a slight stroke„in January but was hospitalized for only a week. He and Jean plan to attend the 50th reunion. He has a double reason to attend since his youngest daughter lives in Hanover where her husband is in the administration end of Mary Hitchcock Hospital.

Al McCune of Tucson sent a card saying that he hoped to attend the 50th accompanied by Mary Anne, whom he married in 1977.

Bert and Lil Stern are definite about coming to reunion. His daughter Karen, a junior at Wheaton, is attending Dartmouth as an exchange student for the spring and summer terms. His son Louis is Montgomery Ward Professor of Marketing at Northwestern University Graduate School of Business.

Don't forget our next reunion is scheduled for October 6 and 7 at the Norwich Inn. Be sure to mail your reservation in early. Watch the " '28 Campaigner" for the August deadline.
