Class Officers Weekend was held in Hanover the latter part of April and of course we were very well represented. Our officers attending were Messrs. Dick Burns, Bob Kirk, Andy Wood, Jim Farley, Guy Swenson, and WarrenKreter. That group was joined for lunch on Friday by local members of the Executive Com- mittee consisting of Harry Bond, Al Britton, Allan Dingwall, Alex Fanelli, and Ad Winship. You will be relieved to know that no momentus decisions were reached, so don't anticipate any staggering changes. On Friday evening the representatives of all classes met in Spaulding Auditorium to witness the awarding of two Dartmouth Alumni Awards "for long and distinguished volunteer services to the College." One of these awards went to our own Warren Kreter (whose picture appears elsewhere on this page), and if ever a fellow has had and is having "a long and distinguished volunteer service to the College," Krete is that fellow. Your classmates echo the standing ovation that you received that night, Krete.
Saturday morning was spent in meetings for the respective officers and then all hands met to listen to an address by John Kemeny. President Kemeny described the activities of 14 Dartmouth undergraduates and I think you can be proud to be associated with these young people. They are truly exceptional, but that seems to be the norm for todays undergraduates.
The weekend ended on Saturday afternoon on a very sentimental note, at least as far as I was concerned. I went to a packed Rollins Chapel at 4:00 p.m. for "A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Lloyd K. Neidlinger." Pudge died the week before on Cape Cod where the funeral was held. I considered it a privilege to have known him during our College days and I have held him in high respect and regard since that time.
Three dates that you should not file and forget:
June 30 - This ends the '77-78 Fund Drive. You know the goal and the partial solution is in your hands.
Sept. I - You have from now until Sept. I to fill me with notes concerning your activities. The next column in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE will appear in the October issue and thus I have the summer off. I'm sure we're both happy about that!
Oct. 13 - The Yale game in Hanover. This is the weekend for the '42 mini-reunion, dinner at the D.O.C. House on Friday, picnic at the Winship's on Saturday, and off to the game. Better plan it now as the town will be jammed.
The "continuing loyalty, vigorous leadership and' wise counsel" of Warren George Kreter '42 were recognized April 28 with a Dartmouth Alumni Award. The citation accompanying Kreter's award detailed his service to the College as an enrollment worker and class president, as well as his indefatigable efforts as a fund-raiser.
