Another month rolls by and I must report that my mailbox doesn't exactly runneth over!
The football season has arrived and in the first two home games the Green has sort of sputtered, winning both games by a slim three points. We have seats with the Allisons and the Fullers, so we of course see them. Howard Halfman had made both of the games and I waved at (Dave Heald during one of them. I parked on the Alpha Delt lawn for the Princeton game and then proceeded to open the tailgate to liberate a Bloody. My '42 reunion hat was in the back of the car and the fellow parked next to me noticed it and introduced himself - Herb Swain of the Barrington, R. I., Swains.
Now to the newspaper files. An interesting note from Montana State University in Bozeman points out that Dr. Cliff Montagne '69 has joined his father, our Dr. John Montagne, as a member of the Geology Department at that University. Cliff majored in geology while here, earned his master's at M.S.U. in '71, and his Ph.D. in '76. Another son, Matt '73, majored in geology at Dartmouth and is now working on his master's at M.S.U. It would appear likely that Matt's career path is pretty well on target. "Well done," Drs. Montagne, pere et fils.
Dick Rugen was recently elected president of the Warren Woolen Co. of Stafford Springs, Conn. Rugie joined the firm in 1946 and prior to his elevation was that company's vice president in charge of production.
Hershel Rix recently received a master's degree of public administration in justice administration from Golden State University in San Francisco. He plans to continue his employment as assistant director of Alameda County Boys' Camps in San Leando, Calif.
And from the real estate files - Jim M. Thompson from Ambler, Pa., to Ocean City, N.J.; Ralph Twining from Baltimore to Perryville, Md.; Gardy Bridge from Milwaukee to Oakland, Calif.; Elliot Dressner from Lone Star, Tex., to Longview, Tex.; Bob Fisher from Minnetonka, Minn., to Excelsior, Minn.; and Ed Hawkridge from Waban to Wellesley, Mass.
In closing, a suggestion as to how to beat the cost of living: Purchase a 13-cent stamp before prices go up and send me a note that can be passed on to the Class. Get the message?
