A dispatch from what variously is known as "down street" (if you grew up around Hanover) and "downtown" (if you grew up Someplace else):
As of mid-September, the town of Hanover had traffic signals at seven intersections. Twenty years or so ago there was no traffic signal at any intersection.
And now the town of Hanover has 529 parking meters.
And today the town of Hanover has 19 full-time police officers.
And this fall, football fans navigating the stormy passage at Wheelock and Main streets will be saluted as usual by Ben Thompson, resplendent in white gloves and blue uniform with brass buttons.
