A call on Calef at East Barrington, N. H., found him enjoying leisure, two of his sons having taken over the large country store known as "Calef's" throughout that section and the nation-wide cheese business, which Austin himself built up over a period beginning immediately upon his leaving College. They are probably the largest retail cheese dealers in the United States supplying many particular individuals, exclusive clubs and fine hotels. Another son has established a large egg producing business with plants scattered through eastern New Hampshire.
Judge "Ted" Weston is busy at Derry, N. H.. trying to cut down on his multitudinous duties. He seems to have recovered completely from his set-back of several years ago but is saddened at this writing by Mrs. Weston's illness, which has forced her to be hospitalized, we hope only temporarily.
Harry McLaren and family luckily came home just as your secretary had about decided that his call was futile, so that the visit with Harry and his wife and their two sons, was very pleasant. Harry is completely retired after over fifty years' high school work at Manchester, and he and Mrs. McLaren spent most of last winter at Indian Rocks, Florida.
Your secretary hopes they will be there this winter so that we may get together more often.
The Aborns, W. G. and Edith will be at the Floronton Hotel, St. Petersburg, beginning Nov. 15, driving down by way of the Smokies, Chattanooga, Montgomery, Pensacola and Tallahassee.
It is a great pleasure to be able to report that George Dodge is in fine shape again and attending to business; in fact, he was so busy waiting on customers that your secretary's visit was of the "hit and miss" sort. I shouldn't have called on Saturday.
Sam Hunt surely is a busy man. Could not find him in Manchester that day, although he was somewhere down town.
Secretary, R.F.D. 2, Cuttingsville, Vt.
