Bill Boies has been a longtime business leader and civic worker in the Naugatuck, Conn., area, and last fall he received from its chamber of commerce the third annual Lewis A. Dibble award. Bill was president of the Colonial Bank and Trust Company and of the Naugatuck National Bank prior to its merger with Colonial. He was very active in civic affairs and has been a director and president of the Waterbury Hospital and president of the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce.

Bill did not get to our Hanover meeting last fall on account of the marriage of a grand- daughter at that time. He reports returning from a trip to Europe on the Concorde and says, "It is terrific."

In the last issue of this magazine we reported that Jerry Greenbaum of Scarsdale, N.Y., was interested in a senior citizens' group in White Plains. He has now been elected president of the Old Guard of White Plains, which is an organization of retired executives now in its 25th year. There are frequent meetings with a variety of activities, and most of the members work for the local Red Cross, Meals-on-Wheels, the hospital, and the Y.M.C.A.

Marian and Curt Abel have been spending the winter in Delray Beach, Fla., as usual and by now they should be rested from their 1978 travels. In May Marian went to Chicago for a niece's wedding, then both of them went to Vermont. In September there were three weeks of sightseeing in Austria, Bavaria, and Switzerland, and in November a week in Mexico City. By now Curt should be ready to start in again on his job as our head agent for the Alumni Fund.

Perhaps our most traveled classmate is one who was on the move for other than vacation purposes. Jack Norris spent six weeks overseas last fall. In Warsaw, Poland, he read a paper at the International Congress on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency. Then followed a four-day tour of southern Poland, two days at Bled in Yugoslavia, and visits to Munich, Vienna, Salzburg, Budapest, Prague, Varna in Bulgaria, Moscow, Kiev, and Leningrad. The conclusion was the world services meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Helsinki, where 13 countries were represented. Jack says, "The contrast between West Germany, Austria, and Finland and the Iron Curtain countries is striking."

Paul Hommeyer sent Christmas greetings from Mazatlan, Mexico, "the land of sunshine on the blue Pacific. Too bad that some other '25ers haven't discovered this perfect winter spot." The late Don Lyman did spend winters there, and your secretary enjoyed a couple of brief visits - enough to agree on the attractions of the area.

Our sympathy goes to Ken McDonough, whose wife Mary died in October after 49 years of marriage. Ken has moved permanently from Maine to Green Valley, Ariz. He has a grandson, Richard, in the freshman class at the College this year and a granddaughter who is a junior at Colby College in Maine.
