Glendon E. French III, son of Glen French '56 and grandnephew of Whitney Eastman, Ben Eastman '16, and Frank Eastman '06, is entering Dartmouth this fall. Glen is a fine athlete and student, and we are all happy that he is carrying on the Dartmouth family tradition.
Nancy Carpenter (Mrs. Guy) wrote on July 19 that she is a patient in the health center now, having given up the apartment which she and Carp occupied. She was sorry to learn of Ken Phelps' poor health and of Ora's passing, saying they had enjoyed visiting with them when the Phelpses lived in California. Ken's sister-in- law reports that he has been in the hospital since April 4. He is not suffering, sleeps a great deal, and has excellent care.
Hazen Jones wrote that after graduation and reunion Al Bull '15 and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rothery '15 stopped in to see him and Rena and report on the doings at Hanover. Bones's family drove him and Rena to Sebasco, Me., for two weeks during the hot days of August. He enclosed a snapshot of a Dartmouth group: Rena and Hazen, their son Kimball Jones '46, and Enid Jones '84, their beautiful granddaughter. Bones says, "In our days in Hanover there may have been a few Indian braves, but beautiful young women were sent to Holyoke or Wellesley so that we could concentrate on becoming Dartmouth men. Ho! Hum!'''
Mamie Thomas (Mrs. Charles A.) was having a wonderful time in Hawaii in August, planning to fly to three islands. Nobody believes she is 91. She would love to go to Greece, and with her track record, I'm betting she makes it. Last year she went to Spain.
Art Lord has done some "gumshoe" work to track down missing Tenners and reports that Elmer Curts died a year ago July; Irving Stone died in 1972; and he had a brief reply from Stafford Johnson. This leaves 18 Tenners, 17 of whom are interested.
