Having listened over the radio this afternoon (September 27) and heard how Dartmouth collapsed in the contest with New Hampshire, I will turn to more pleasant reading of the notes that Ruth Little has sent. She has been in correspondence with widows, and the following information has resulted. If some of the men in the Class would write as much, we would have more information to pass along.
Louise Davidson (Mrs. Fred) has been hospitalized, but she was completely herself over the phone. She has a sophomore granddaughter at Dartmouth, so the family carries on.
Eleanor Hopkins (Mrs. Robert) reports a great grandson. Three granddaughters are attending Dartmouth, one '71, one '81 and one Tuck School '81.
Mrs. Roger Rice spent the summer at Sprucewold, Me., and reports many family reunions. The eldest grandson came from California, with his family, hoping his son can enter Dartmouth as a fifth generation Rice student. Another grandson spent his summer in Alaska, and another with his family came from Cincinnati. A granddaughter spent the summer in Germany and enjoyed the Passion Play in Oberammergau, although it rained hard.
Mrs. Rae Davis (Mrs. F. F. Sullivan) doesn't number her great-grandchildren but says the entire Sullivan family was together.
Mrs. Pennell Aborn reports that she could not attend our 1979 reunion but did get to hers this past June.
Mrs. Louise Hammett (sister of Ted Marriner) helped a grandson marry a Dartmouth woman, class of 1980, with a large Dartmouth group attending.
The Alumni Records office lists the death of Mrs. Horace Borden in April and Mrs. Gilbert McDonough in March.
